opps my mistake. I would do the same as you and take the cat straight to the vet.Still we have to be thankful they took it somewhere where it will get the help she needs i suppose. may they will phone in a weeks time or something.

They werent the owners of this cat though - they were driving home from friends and came across the poor little soul curled up by the side of the road - lucky it was someone like them who are cat lovers and knew she needed attention because of how thin she looked and that her eyes looked ulcerated. Even so, I would have wanted to know how she got on after I'd taken her to a CP shelter, and actually I think I would probably have taken her to a vet first, hmmm, don't know really - thinking about what I'd do in that situation?

Yes it is. Thanks for having a look though. As for last owner s not keeping in touch after they come in to rescue we get that alot. Like with poor Socs we emailed them telling about what the vet had found they emailed back and said they hadn't been told that by there vets and haven't even brothered to find out how he is now.

Well I havent found out anymore news I'm afraid, it doesnt sound as though the friends of my Gwynnie's breeders were keeping in touch with CP about the cat

which is a bit of a shame. All I know is that the cat is in the hands of CP and that the people that handed her in live between Bath and Shepton Mallett (think thats what he said!) so I don't know which CP district that would come under - or even where they were at the time they found the cat, because they were on their way back home from Cornwall! Think I'll have a trawl through the CP websites for some of those areas and see what I can find - its annoying not knowing the outcome!

Oh well I am sure cp will find him a good home weather he is a birman or a ragdoll.Hope they home him as am indoor cat though as birmans and raggies shouldn't be allowed outside unless in a secure garden as raggies just don't have the sense bless them to know how to get home.

I've no idea, they took the cat straight to CP (not sure what district - but they live in Somerset)

There was no news when I last spoke to my Gwynnie's breeder (they phone twice a week since she was ill!) on Saturday, but they were hoping to speak to the friends that found the Birman this week, so perhaps I'll get some more news then - it'll be Wednesday when they phone.

Update on Paul (Sorry Gillian)

Caroline sent an email. It wasn't a virus. Our regular vet tested him and put him on antibiotics. In 2 days, his eye is almost better

He is going to a foster home and I'm sure it won't be long before someone falls in love - he is a handsome friendly black boy

Sorry about using the same thread. I picked the little boy up and he was so good. The only sound he made in the cage was sneezing

His eye is quite bad. The emergency vet just checked his eye for damage but it is badly infected and swollen. Other than that, he looks sleek & healthy and damn handsome

The first vet was surprised why we turned down their offer of a chlamydia test for £100

- the regular vet will do everything necessary and at a fraction of the cost + they are staffed 24/7 and don't charge overnight boarding - they are great

Poor baby - I hope it can be treated and she is not in pain

- it does make you wonder if people dump cats rather than see a vet

I took a call today from a woman that had a stray with a bad eye in her garden. We arranged for her to take it to her local vet for quickness. Sharon said the eye is so badly infected, it will take weeks to clear up (possibly Chlamydia) . I am picking him up tomorrow to take him to a CP vet where they can keep him in quarantine (a 24hr vet). The VN at Maison Dieu vets asked if he can be called Paul

The breeders of my little Gwynnie had some friends visiting yesterday, and when the friends were on the way home they found a little cat curled up by the side of the road, very thin and unkempt with what looked like both eyes ulcerated. They think probably a sealpoint Birman and less than a year old, she is now in the care of CP - think its Somerset way. Poor little soul, hope she gets well and finds a lovely home.
