This is great, but I have no idea what to do with it. (told you I was stupid!)
As for details - those are Felix and She Whose Name Must Not Be Written
Felix is the B&W one. I grew up with animals. Anyway, long story shorter, we were never without animals in general, and cats in particular.
My Mother's health failed, as it does for all of us. She was alone, my Dad having died over 20 years previously and my sister and I both having long since left home. Things were becoming bad. I went home for a visit and to help. Decided that she needed something other than herself to think about so went off to the 'local' shelter (actually 60 km away). Mum always loved Siamese but, of course, none were to be had. I hate shelters, by the way. I find it impossible to choose. Always think of those I left behind.... Anyway, there was She Whose Name Must Not Be Written. An adult calico. Came up to the front of the cage and purred and purred. She was the one for Mum, I knew. But then, in another room, I saw Felix. He was a 6 month old kitten. But with such huge hands. I have always been a sucker for multi-toed cats.... So I got them both. She Whose Name for Mum, Felix for me. Brought them to Mother. Told her as to how She Whose was hers, but not to worry, I would take Felix. She wanted to know why she couldn't have them both. So she did. That is their picture on her stairway.
The time came very shortly thereafter when Mum had to leave her home. As I had sworn to do, I brought Felix and She Whose back here with me. Mum subsequently went into care and a year later was transferred into care here when my sister could no longer cope. She Whose and I visited Mum regularly. She Whose would curl up beside Mum and sing and sing. And even when Mum could no longer speak, even when she no longer acknowledged me, even when her arms and hands had been paralyzed... she reached out in one last movement and stroked She....
It is one of the most precious memories of my life.
So that's who they are. And, yes, they are both still with me. Felix is still silly. And She Whose Name... now curls up alongside of me and sings and sings and sings.
Thanks again Bazsmum.
