yeah clare there is a huge colony of them, i posted on here last year when it was in the news

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/3869815.stm

was amazing to see the green flock of birds on telly, right here in britain  ;D  there are worries though coz they are having detrimental effect on native local species.

Round our way we apparently have wild green parrots!  I've never seen them, but my Dad has loads of times  ;D

Although our garden is tiny, so far I've seen:  Robins, bluetits, greattits (I think), some kind of finch, sparrows and blackbirds.  In the area with trees to the front of the house, there are loads of magpies, jays, and I've seen a few woodpeckers too!  Not to mention our resident squirrels!

Its so nice to look out of the window and see wildlife  ;D

Ooo i know you're quite into / like bird watching gill so you'd have been thrilled with the pair my pal has, (and i saw one 2 days ago at her garden too)  woodpeckers !!   I couldnt make it out very well but she got me to watch as it landed on a tree and they do land/grab hold of the tree as you imagine woody wood pecker sitting  :evillaugh:

she said she had watched him the previous day hanging off a fat ball in her garden getting clunked on the head by the one swinging above

We have loads of penguins magpies too and jackdaws and the odd seagull a bit off course LOL.

Last year I saw a pair of birds that I was sure were birds of prey but by time I got binoculors they had gone.

Was in greenhouse a few days ago and circling overhead was one and definately a bird of prey. Dont know what type though and there is a red kite programme in the area but I have seen other birds of prey not too far up the road where I was learning to drive.

Today I say a small bird with an enormously long tail in the trees at the bottom, dont know what it was , maybe a long tailed tit? It looked so odd flying with this great long tail.

Was looking out the bathroom window last week afyer it had rained hard and was pleased to see a bullfinch, bluetit, robin, blackbird and a greenfinch. Thats rather good going cos I havent seen most of those for over a year!

I love watching the birds in my garden - I have all those birds all the time Gill and Penguins!!  Only joking, I mean Magpies.   :naughty:

Ogden Reservoir is near to me too and I go there for walks quite often and there are ducks, geese, wild rabbits, birds and squirells - it's really nice.  See attached pic.  I bought some cheap binoculars last week from a shop we have in Yorkshire called Home Bargains - only £1.99 with as AA walking guide to where birds are too.  Not tried them as yet cos of lousy weather in last few weeks.  >:( :(

Clare - Glad Max is as daft as Bonnie - bless em

Lol Mary, Max does that if we're upstairs. We have a flat roof on our house so he sees the bird fly past the window and land on the roof just above where he's sitting, he can never quite figure it out.  If you get a bloomin great pigeon up there, you can hear it pootling around on the roof, so Max just sits there looking at the ceiling trying to work out what the noise is

Love the pictures and wish I could take nice pictures like that.

My lot have scared nearly every bird that wants to keep its feathers away.

Aw bless him  :Luv:

This is Max's new hobby as well since I installed a bird feeder in the back garden, he sits there chattering to them in the morning  :Luv2:
[/color]

Chattering - that's just the word I was looking for.  Bonnie sits on the window sill in my back bedroom adn looks down at the bird table every time she comes to visit me while I'm on my computer.  her teeth start and she makes the strangest hissing sort of noise - I just say 'no, your not having the birdies' and she jumps down bless her.  It's funny when  birds fly on to the top of the house - she starts looking at the bedrrom ceiling wondering where they've gone!  :evillaugh:

Great pics of Cody.  You saying he loves watching them zoom past the window made me think of a holiday we had in France (Rocamadour).  They had a bired of prey centre up on a steep cliff and down below were some houses whose windows looked over the drop.  As the birds came back to the handlers, they flew past these windows.  So as uou did your dishes a b**** great vulture swept past!
