help needed smelly cat!

Out of my two, Josh has the stinkiest poos and Smokey is really windy. I picked him up the other day and he let out a huge raspberry! It was funny at the time but I've been keeping an eye on him to make sure it's nothing sinister  .

Zephyr (aka Stinky) always used to produced the most awful stiinky poo.  However since I changed to feeding Royal Canin Siamese dry food and either applaws or felix in jelly (my lot like the specialty range in foil trays) the smells have been greatly reduced.

Purina is only a midrate quality though, was about 16% meat last time I looked at it. I compared ASda Tiger to Gocat today, I actually think GoCat might have been slightly better. HiLife is a good dry food, although only available at a few places - Wilkinsons sell it, and you can buy bigger bags from their online supplier.

Morrisons do a very good dry one i give mary the senior one one she loves it and by reading the side the same quality as purina one

Dont know about coop But Asda, morrisons, tesco , own best Def worth a look  You can read whats in them and compare on the side of the packets if havent already.  Or if you have a home bargains near you they tend to sell High life dry which is good as well

If expense is a problem what a about buying the larger bags from a pet store or pets at home if you have one near

Not the ones I have looked at, I agree that Asda and Tesco do two kinds of dry, and the premium ones are better (they will be more expensive than Whiskas though), but not all supermarkets do that, I dont recall seeing a more premium one in either Morrisons or the Co-op.

Supermarket own dry food is worse quality than Whiskas though, it isn't the best dry food to be feeding. And if it is cheaper, it definitely is worse quality.

Wiskas dry and in gravy food as has been said can both cause  smelly   

I would just feed the in jelly type wet and supermarkets own which ever you use high quality/best dry wich is probably the cheaper or the same price as wiskas

What do you worm them with? As some products dont cover both types of common worm.

Taffy always had trouble with gravy food, the wind was terrible  

Edit to add, dont change brands yet or you risk upsetting things more and not knowing what the real culprit is.
I would change within the felix range to jelly.

both due to be frontlined in 2 weeks. and she had her worm pills about 2 weeks ago

Mmmm, I'm thinking more along the line of a worm problem.

When I first got Pearl, she was still full of tapeworm despite her having been wormed twice by the CP shelter where she was being fostered. She was terribly farty and the farts were unbelievably stinky. Once I'd got the worm problem sorted, she was fine - except the time I tried her on garlic tablets, but that's another story... 

When was the last time you wormed and flead your lot, fluffy? I'd recommend a drontal and tube of frontline each and see how that works.

It could be the gravy in the wet food, quite a lot of cats have issues with it.

they have not had milk in yonks but thats what i first thought.

might switch to the asda own food, although they are really fussy. but hey they will eat it eventually

I think they can develop an intolerance over time without any reason and wheat is high on the list of suspects. Whiskas dry isn't really that good as it has a very high wheat content. You could try Pets at Own own dry food - not the value one. It's really high quality and low cereal and not that expensive - at the moment, asda are doing their Tiger select 1kg bags for £1.74 and it has really high quality ingredients. If that didn't work, you could try Royal Canin sensible 33. The vet might give you something but I would think it would be better to treat the cause rather than the symptoms.

It's case of trial & error really.

Milk is another suspect

erm felix in gravy cans for brekkie and tea and mid day they have a small cup of whiskers dry food.

they have always had this though and never had a problem before?

What food do you give them? it could be a wheat intolerance.

okies so my cat Jasper is beginning to worry me a little.

shes eating well and drinking normally and being her usual self, however she keeps farting and it really does smell, her poo varies from normal to slightly runny, but its always smelly.

i have not changed her food and my other cat is ok??

any ideas?
