Hope you've got his bum sorted - makes a change to be talking about cats bums! One of my dogs has just had his anal glands removed, so It's been dogs bums chatter for months now. Sorry  :evillaugh:

Could it be his anal sacs are full?

Yes, that type of behaviour is usually your initial thought.

I would have thought it is worms, However, your vet could give his anal glands a sqeeze (yuck yuck stinky stinky makes me heave )

"scooting" on the floor on their bum is a sign of an itch and this is usually associated with worms!  But of course it could be something else so a trip to Mr vet might be an idea.

In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.

Hi Amy

From what you've said it sounds like vet today would be a good idea - has he been wormed recently? As he's happy and behaving normally apart from the scooting thing I wouldn't say it's a major emergency but definitely best for the vet to take a look.

Yes it is yucky but it also shows how good a job you're doing of monitoring Toffee for illness and that's definately a positive thing.

Sore anal sacs?

I've just recently got home and Toffee went and had a poo..When he came out of the littler tray he started scooting across the floor so i picked him up and took a look.
His actual (anus) sphincter is quite red and inflamed. I've been having a look at what it could be but i'm really worried, will be phoning the vets first thing but any advice for now?
Could it be his anal sacs are full?
He is eating, drinking and playing fine and he is passing normal stools.
Sorry if this post grosses people out.
Any advice would be great..
