The last couple of mornings on my way to work I've encountered the most beautiful, friendly grey and white cat with fur like long velour. He/she meows, chirrups, and approaches me on sight. When I squat down to pet it, it jumps on my 'lap', puts its paws on my shoulders and rubs my face! ... THAT friendly!
The problem is ... the location is just outside Bristol city centre, in a 'dodgy' area, where it's mostly low grade flats, businesses and very little greenery. The roads are busy, of course. Now, even though I'm an advocate of 'outdoor' cats, there is no way on this earth that I would allow a cat out in this area. The fact that it has been there two days running suggests that it is no mistake that the cat is there, or that it is a stray. However, it looks well-fed and in good condition, which leaves me with the conclusion that someone, in their ignorance, is letting this cat out, perhaps even putting it out at night (I go past at about 07:45). Luckily it does appear to be car-shy, but it is so friendly that it's only a matter of time before a psycho gets hold of it, or someone simply takes it home with them. So what I've decided I should do is to attach a paper collar to it, asking the owner to call me, otherwise I will assume it's a stray and arrange for it to be collected. Then hopefully I will take the opportunity to 'educate' the person responsible for letting the cat out in such a busy city centre area.
To cut a long story short ... um ... how do I make/obtain a paper collar?
