We thought mid week that the boy would have to go to the vet as he wasn't moving from updtairs and we were feding him treats on our bed and I mentioned that as Robin would be off Thurs/Fri that if he wasn't looking a bit perkier then off to Mr Vets he would go well the next morning he lept in to action and has been a happy old soul and eating for Britain including munching biscuits so it looks like the Cyber party is now on.
A bit of background on Bert - he came for foster care on the 18 Dec 2000 with another oldie Moose (sadly he went to the Bridge on 17/01/) and somehow they ended up chipped, fully injected and adopted by Christmas 2000 both had been in the shelter for months as bnoth had issues but we like a challange!
Bert spent the first months of his life with us living on top of the wardrobes in our bedroom and we had litter tray on one and food and bed on the other - and they say you can't train humans anyway he then became our best friend at 04.00amthen mastered going outside and he really took to living in a multi cat household with gusto. It hasn't all been plain sailing he is now blind, has arthritus, a blood disorder and no teeth apart from that he is a bit thin but his coat is shiny and he loves life.
Moving here was we thought going to be a real challange for Bert as for the first time in our ownership of this lot we have stairs and made our bedroom upstairs well by day after the mass escape Bert had found our bed, mastered the stairs and been caught in a trap whilst getting that extra treat! He also much to our surprise asked to go out - he used our front door only at the last house and the garden her is now in acres but we let him out for about an hour a day in the summer and he loved it but always asks to go back through to the house cat end of the house and in winter has the electric blanket on and lies resplendant on our bed and wo betide any of the youngsters who want the warm side of the bed!
He is now very much the elder statesman of the family next closet in age is Miss Gracie our feral oldie who is about 16 and then our Princess Sweetie who has owned me for 14 years and 7 months then 2 at 10 and the rest under 7!
He will be off to the vet in January 2007 for his annual boosters and long may he continue to be Bertie of Fetternear and our darling boy - he is black and a photo will be forthcoming once he decides to stay still long enough!
