I would like to bid £1 to name a girl kitty Safina (can be shortened to Saffy for everyday usage  ;D).  It means beautiful one (in swahili I think - one of the African languages).

Yes Ela, there is that factor to the whole thing....but I don't think any of us seriously expect Lesley to give all these names to the kittens.

I do  ;D

Don't worry, I will be printing this post off and using the names and crossing them off as I go.  This thread has saved me having to come up with names for a while I hope and each time I use one, I will send the nominator a piccie of their named kitten.

I am sure that Lesley will work it out and when she gets sets of kittens in 6 at a go, the names will go down so fast  ;D

She can carry on using them next year , there is no expiry date on the names

or each cat can get about 16 names!!!!

the people i'm giving it to dont need to know that though....

and maybe lesley can compile a kitten/cat name book (list) and other rescues could use it too - goodness knows they have a lot of names to come up with!!!

maybe there could be a list and names can get crossed off as and when they get used?  dunno, just thinking allowed here....   ;D

Yes Ela, there is that factor to the whole thing....but I don't think any of us seriously expect Lesley to give all these names to the kittens.   I think it's just a bit of fun and a reason for donating...and it makes us think about all the lovely names we could and have given to cats.  :)

Right...Lucy has just reminded me of my other fave name for a little girl cat: Xanthe

So in addition to Gigi (and Hermione Gingold and Maurice Chevalier just because I love the song they sing so well together from Gigi) I would love to see a Xanthe.  ( I think it would suit a beautiful, elegant little black cat best   :))

So my donation now stands at £4.00

Gigi
Hermione Gingold
Maurice Chevalier
Xanthe

Edited to help for the counting  :shify: :shify: This adds £1 to the total already running  ;) ;)

I've always wanted to name a little girl kitten, Gigi , as in the musical by the same name.  I would then drift around all day singing to the little sweetheart, while doing my work:

Oh Gigi
Am I a fool without a mind?
Or have I nearly been too blind to realize
Oh, Gigi
While you've been growing up before my eyes

Gigi
You're not all that funny or quick little girl I knew
No, overnight there's been a breathless change in you
Oh, Gigi
While you were trembling on the brink
Was I out yonder somewhere blinking at a star?

Oh, Gigi
Have I been standing up too close or back too far?
When did your sparkle turn to fire?
And your warmth become desire
Oh, what miracle has made you the way you are?

When did your warmth become desire?
And your sparkle turn to fire?
Oh, what miracle has made you the way you are?

Oh, Gigi

I adore that song and the musical.

So £1.00 for Gigi. Another £1.00 for Hermione Gingold (yep, the whole name) and another for Maurice Chevalier.  (The last two for their song together: Ah yes, I remember it well....gorgeous stuff) And two kittens named Hermione Gingold and Maurice Chevalier have got to grow up into big cats haven't they?  After all, whoever heard of kittens with such grown up names?

So that's me £3.00

Gigi
Hermione Gingold
Maurice Chevalier
