Thank you all for your kind thoughts.  CC, she had caught a virus which seemed to race through her.  As she was so thin, she had no reserves to fight it even with the antibiotics.  Her x-ray showed her whole chest was filled with fluid and she was having awful trouble breathing because of this.  Our vet started to try and drain the fluid but she just went downhill so in the end there was nothing we could do.It was an awful decision to make but she was suffering so much that we didn't really have an option.  The vet said that if she had been a normal weight, she might have managed to pull through

Thank you all so much for your messages - they have really helped me today.  I know you understand what I'm feeling.  I think it is her being so young that seems to make it worse, although it is awful whatever age it happens.  Ollie and I have had a play with da bird and now he's fast asleep and full of prawns that he had for his tea.  I think I'll join you for the quiz to keep me occupied.  Once again, thank you all so much - it would have been a lot worse without you to talk to.

Remember Our Love

I was chosen today
I'm learning to fly
the world took me away,
but please don't you cry

And I chose you today
to try and be strong
so please don't you cry
and don't say that I'm gone

When you're feeling alone
just remember our love,
I'm up near the stars
looking down from above.

Remember our love
In a moment you'll see
that I'm still here beside you
when you're thinking of me.

Miss Me, But Let Me Go
___________________

When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little, but not too long, and not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared.
Miss me, but let me go.

This is a journey that we all must take, and each must go alone.
It’s all part of the Master’s Plan. It’s a step on the road to home.
Miss me, but let me go.

When you are lonely and sick of heart, go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrows in doing deeds.
Miss me, but let me go

I'm feeling so unhappy at the moment.  Portia had to be PTS this morning.  Her breathing had deteriorated rapidly since yesterday and despite being put in an oxygen tent she continued to go downhill and we had to make the awful decision to let her go.  I feel as if I have really failed her.
