Just thinking about all the different breeds we have between us, has anyone on Purrs got (or had) a Devon or Cornish Rex. I have never seen any mention of them. A tea shop that used to be near us years ago had one and it used to come and sit beside you while you had your cuppa.

I think Teresa may have had a devon rex through her hands before and know she'd love one again.
The lady who bred my Cody also breeds devons so that was my first experience of them when i went to pick cody up (and boy what an experience it was :rofl: )
I also met cornish rex this year for the first time when i visited a cat show and they were lovely (although i've heard a few reports that they can be timid and sometimes abit dirty re toileting)
I totally adore the rex breeds though and will firmly stand by the Laperms ;D but the devons are so addictive to stroke ;)

I love the rexes. Mosi's breeder has a devon rex who is a very cheeky little boy! ;D

I have two Bengal's and a Domestic Short Hair.

I have 2 Abyssinian's and a domestic short hair.
I would love a Devon Rex .... they are VERY people orientated and love human company. My Hairdresser has 2 Devons and although they are VERY naughty they are also unbelievably affectionate and cute :Luv2:

I have, in the past owned and bred siamese and orientals. I have also owned burmese, abyssinians, a turkish angora, and multiple moggies. My preference for the breeds is you have a fair idea of what the temperament is going to be. Smidgen, who is part aby, is all I could have hoped for interms of affection, lunacy and rambunctiousness. Esther, a moggy of uncertain age, is sweetnatured, quiet and unassuming. A good mix i feel... :Luv:

If we're talking breeds we have - I have one Somali and one DSH. Both delightful in their own ways. Mosi the Somali is a lunatic.

Many years ago I had the pleasure of rescuing 2 old Devon Rex,they were with me for 2 years and 2 and half years until they died both aged over 17 years. Despite their age they were little clowns disguised as cats who were able to give and receive all the love in the world. Dear Ainsley used to get inside my jumper and I would walk round with him like that fast asleep after his brother Jenson died,they are very clingy cats and best in pairs. Ainsley used to drive me to despair he would wait until I opened the tumble dryer to take out the dry bedding and hop in and wee all over it.
Those boys stole my heart and despite all the wonderful rescues I am always surrounded by I would love another pair of Devons.

Aww, they sound gorgeous, what colours were they Teresa? I love the look of Devons, but especially colourpoints.

I have two old type Siamese and in fact have had Siamese all my life, more often then not brothers and sisters.. Some rescued some not.. All have made an impact in my heart and although if we ever have a Siamese brought into our branch that needs a home it would probably just stay here..
I have had the odd moggie as well and Siamese, Havana Cross. Betsy has not a day illness in her 16 yrs of life and was the most terrific hunter she caught a seagull and a squirrel once (not at the same time).. Considering i took her on as she was mis treated at a early age from a breeder who had rescued her she had a great life and i also miss her cheaky habit of refusing to give up her rightful position on my bed when another two Siamese came along..
I just love Siamese and despite being in rescue for a few years now and being the rehoming person for our branch they are so full of character but prepared for the noise.
Just wanted to say here that our branch in the last few years has rehomed.
2 bengals
2 maine coons
3 ragdoll
5 Burmese
2 Birmins
2 3 Siamese (all needed to be only cats)
3 Russian or British Blues
2 Turkish Vans
2 Somalias
Hard to believe isnt it that they pedigrees all end up in rescue!

Heres a couple of pics of the 2 Devon Rex that stole my heart, pics taken after 6 months in care then aged almost 16 years.
In the 18 plus years I have been rescuing I have rescued the following pedigrees
1 Cornish Rex
2 Devon Rex
1 British Blue
2 Bengals
2 Ragdolls
So not many pedigrees really when you consider well over 4000 cats have been through our doors.

I just used to love the feel of the Devon Rex at the teashop. It was like stroking very luxurious velvet.

We have a lilac colourpoint ragdoll in at the moment and she's :Luv:
I only the other hand have a DSH with a bit of something else in him (have no idea what that bit is though).

At the moment I've got 2 NFCs and a Bengal x Persian.

we had a lovely Siamese at the rescue I volunteer at, she was 14 and I would have taken her home in an instant but she needed to be an only cat. I sat for 2 hours one day on the floor of her pen freezing my backside off while she curled up and went to sleep!

I have 1 Tonkenese and 10 Chavs (love that term)
I would love a Siamese.
When i was at the cattery we had a couple of Rexs that came in regularly.
My fav we called "lamb" coz of his curly coat, He really was the most loving cat.
We also had a family of 3 but they were bald ! (is that still a rex?) Liked like a cross between ET and a rat :rofl:

I've got a lovely Burmese, who is the most troublesome cat we've got.
3 dsh and one semi long hair - to be honest I've had the foster kittens for 6 months now, I'm not sure they will go anywhere unless it's my inlaws.
Not that I mind.

Michelle, Devons can have very sparse coats and sometimes lose the coat almost alltogether although most normally grows back. Rex in general can shed coats often as kittens but if it was a devon then they were still rex lol. Unless they were sphynx of course who shouldnt have any hair but i was pleasantly surprised at how nice they are to stroke. (sphynx get grouped in with the rex breeds anyway )
