Had her at the vet this morning for some old lady checks (she's 16 and a half) and the vet reckons she might have an intestinal tumour. Obviously the prognosis, if this is the case, would not be good. I'm a bit of a wreck now as you can imagine.
-
I'm sorry to hear that, our Oscar had one last year, is she having a scan?
-
So far they're doing a hefty blood screen. I won't know what's likely to be next until the results are in from that. TBH, at her age, I don't think she'd survive surgery.
-
Hope Lilli will be ok
-
My thoughts very much with you both.
-
Aw, poor Lilli - I hope the blood tests are clear and she's better soon.
-
Thinking of you both  Really hope it's a false alarm
-
I'm sorry to hear this- really hope tests prove negative
-
Sending lots of healing thoughts to Lilli.
On a side note I had a dog with a bowel tumour and he lasted a good year after diagnosis without any operation. The Veterinary put it down to our feeding him chunky chicken (chicken in white sauce from Asda), chicken soup and the occasional ginger biscuit (melted in soup), as well as my healing hands.

Sending lots of      to you both.

sending loads and loads of good vibes for Lily ;D ;D
She is very beautiful and hope for a negative result

Sending lots of positive vibes and    to you both.

So sorry to hear this. Thinking of you both

Is there any news on Lilli? Hoping no news is good news
-
I've been travelling home to Belfast today and haven't gotten any results yet. I'm planning to call tm. Thanks everyone. Xxx
-

-
Well, the results are in and I'm not much further on!! Kidneys and thyroid are ok. The vet now seems to be leaning towards IBD. She has recommended a paste and B12 shots for 4 weeks and then a scan if no improvement. Anyone familiar with this?
-
I'm late reading this and so sorry for you and your dear Lilli. At least some of the news from the vet was good, it's just the unknown that's the worry as we all know.
No info here I'm afraid. You might be better off sending PM to Liz with all her experience of all sorts of stuff or post in Health section.
GOOD LUCK  :Luv2:

Thanks Mary and everyone. Am currently in Belfast with my mother who is advocating PTS without trying anything!!! Aaaargh. Xx

S*D her, she's not a Purrs Family Member :censored:
If you do need to pts we can all help you get through it BUT as long as she is still having a good life, you can give her love and strength to carry on some more happy years with you
Talk to us, not her :Luv2:

My petsitter Jess, took Lilli back to the vets today as her digestive issues have worsened and she was hiding away. The vets have kept her in and are giving her IV fluids & antibiotics. It's even harder for me to deal with because I'm away in Belfast. I hate to think of her wondering where I am :'( :'(
Jess and her mum have been amazing though. I'd recommend them in a heartbeat.
I'm glad I have food in my freezer and plenty of baked beans because January is likely to be very cash poor............but we do anything we can for our babies.
I'll have her 14 years in February if she makes it and she's literally my shadow. :Luv2:
Thanks peeps. It's great to know you are all like minded and not thinking I'm nuts to be so upset.
-
Nothing nuts about it and never think that way
She is in the best place for her and getting the treatment she needs. When are you back home?
I think we have all got or had a cat that shadows us and we feel lost without them. I know when I had to make the big decision with Bonnie in April it was like having my right arm chopped off.
You know we all understand and we are all sending healing vibes to Lilli  :Luv2:
Mary

Keep the vibes coming everybody, there's been an improvement!!! She's now eating well and they're planning to take her off the IV fluids & antibiotics. She'll be getting oral antibiotics instead. Apparently she's really bright and is asking for fusses. Lilli has always been a cantankerous :censored: with everyone apart from me, but since she's gotten older, she's less cranky!!!
I know what you mean about Bonnie, I think we all felt like we'd lost her so for you it was heartbreaking.
I get back to England on Thursday lunchtime and the vets will probably have her there til then. I'm not back to work until Jan 4th, so I'll be able to keep an eye on her myself.
Thanks everyone. Xxxxx
-
I hope you are back home soon cos I am sure just seeing you again will help....................both of you
-
Thanks for the update, I bet you can't wait to see Lilli again!
-
I'm just so relieved that I'm actually gonna see her again, as I was beginning to think I might not. I get back to England around 2 on New Year's Eve. Much cuddling will be had!!! I would fly back now if I could afford to!!!
-
Sending out lots of good vibes for Lilli and     for you.

Fantastic news
Demanding hugs is great   It's good that she will have been off the drip and onoral antibiotics before you get to see her as the vet might have a better idea of how she is responding. A fantastic start to 2016 for you both  :Luv2:

Just back from the vets and had to let Lilli go. She waited for me to come back from Belfast, but she couldn't stay any longer. I'll miss her so much, I know you all know how I feel. I'll be back soon to write a tribute to my shadow.

Almost 14 years ago, you and your brother Dante chose to come & live with me. Sadly, Dante went to the Bridge 18 months later aged 15. Then we had 2 new friends come to stay - Marli (still here!!) and D'arcy (at the bridge). We were all happy together (once you got control of the other 2) and you were always beside me, even sleeping on the pillow beside mine. We moved to our new house in April 2007. Shortly after that we lost D'arcy to HCM (aged 6). Then Teddy joined us and you soon put him in his place. You remained beside me. Then we accidentally acquired Cooper. You weren't fussed on him, but he obeyed the house rules until he disappeared in Sept 2011. And then the tiny tangerine terror came along and you looked on whilst she drove Marmalade crazy!! (this has not changed 4 years later!!!) Crystal too acknowledged your position in the household, but occasionally needed putting in her place. During 2012 - 2014, I went through a tough time with work and health and you must have sensed how bad I felt and you never left my side.
2014, you really started to show your age (15 by now) and you had a 'funny turn' in December. We have no idea what it was, but you rallied. You turned 16 in August 2015 (along with your birthday sister Marmalade). In November, you weren't feeling great, but again you rallied and throughout, you were by my side.
On December 21st, you told me you weren't well, so we went to the vets. They ran some tests that came back clear and so I went to Belfast for Christmas. Your Aunties Jess & Liz were taking care of you. Auntie Liz, loved you like one of her own.
But you started to feel very poorly indeed on Boxing Day and on Sunday, Aunty Liz and Aunty Jess took you to the out of hours vet - Ciara. You were popped on a drip and given antibiotics and "speshul fuds". And again, you rallied. I flew back to England on NY Eve and brought you home. We saw in 2016 together and I was by your side. On Saturday Jan 2nd, you wouldn't have any food, even your favourites tuna or butter and you were suddenly drinking loads of water. So with a very heavy heart we went to see Ciara. You had lost .3 kg in a week and you didn't have that to lose. Now Aunty Ciara could feel a lump where your kidney stopped. She hadn't been able to feel that even the few days before.
So I had to make the most awful decision to let you rest. So off you went to the Bridge and I'm so grateful I was by your side.
I will miss you forever. You were my shadow, always by my side and I miss you desperately. You'll hopefully have met my dad & nanny by now and all of your fur brothers & sisters.
I couldn't bear to have your ashes (not withstanding the fact that the tiny tangerine terror would knock them over!!) so instead I will be having a tattoo (my first one!!) to celebrate your life & love.
So, until we meet again, run free with your fur friends old & new.
RIP my angel, there's a gap by my side now.
-
Thank you all so much for your hugs & support. I'm still very raw, but have managed to write a tribute in Rainbow Bridge.

Marmalade seems to be missing you Lilli. You weren't particularly close, but you'd been in her life for 12 years. She's off her food and when she's not right beside me, she's in your spot under the spare bed.
Miss you so much old girl. Xxxxx

Massively struggling this pass few days Lil. Miss you very badly. The girls and even Ted are being very affectionate, but there's no one in your spot or on your pillow in bed. I still look for you when I come home and I still wake up at Dreamies o'clock. I hope you've met up with some furpals and know we all love you & miss you. Xxxxx

I stumbled across this last night. I struggle to read it, but wow. :'(
-
  A friend sent that to me when I lost the first of my boys & it broke my heart. So sad.
But it's so true, it's the heartbreak we take on isn't it? Knowing that they will go before us.
But so very worth it for us and our cats - because we gain so much from them & we give them wonderful lives in return. Like you did with Lilli x

So sorry, RIP Lilli xx
