I was going to Swindon from work this morning and driving down the Dual Carriageway between the M4 and Mannington roundabout there was a knocked down cat in the road :'(
I drove down to the roundabout and back up around in a loop hoping there was a chance she'd make it but once i'd stopped I could tell she was gone :(
What really pissed me off were the amount of people who could see my car pulled up on the grass verge, me standing by it and the cat in the road, who didn't pull into the right hand lane to let me collect her. I waited for what seemed like ages till it was safe as I didnt want to get hit myself and picked her up and rested her on the grass, she didn't have a collar :(
I sobbed all the way to work and every time I close my eyes I see her - I hate that road i've heard of so many cats being knocked down from the estate next door!

I am so sorry to hear about the awful day you've had :(
You definatly need big hugs right now     I know she had already passed but it's warming to know that you cared enough to stop and move her unlike the other motorists not even bothering to move to let you get to her >:(
Just think she is at the Bridge now playing with all of our lost fur babes :'( :Luv:

Good on you for moving her, it's a horrible thing to have to do
Might be worth ringing nearby vets/RSPCA etc to see if they have a lost & found list

Liz, am so sorry about yesterday. It's a horrible thing to witness. Am just glad that at least the last thing that was done for her was done with ultimate compassion and kindness by you.

I'm man enough to admit I'd have been sobbing too, I'd hate to be in that situation :(

Sorry to hear about that Liz, it is horrible to see .....but thank the lord you came along and picked her up.
I was walking to the bus stop earlier this year when I saw a ginger cat lying in the road and cars were driving round it, whoever knocked the poor thing down didn't stop and nobody else bothered stopping either.. what kind of people are these, it disgusts me? They are all just in too much of a hurry to do anything caring aren't they.. or maybe they just don't care full stop.
I picked the cat up and it died in my arms (I think its neck was broken). Then his owner came out and she was so upset.... we were both sobbing and hugging. I cried all day and had to leave work as couldn't get it out of my head.
It is so sad but please comfort yourself that you did all you could and saved the poor wee cat's owners the pain of either never finding their cat or finding her in a bad
state in the road which would have been dreadful for them.
I keep my cats indoors. It is just too busy and dangerous out there for cats these days. You will feel better in a few days and you know that you showed kindness and compassion. I wish more people were like you. Would be a much nicer world.

I'm sorry to everyone who's witnessed the same thing, and thanks all of you
I was going to start calling vets tomorrow but I was told the cats body was gone so i'm assuming the owner found her, i'd rested her on carrier bags so she would show against the grass.
