Awww what  little sweat heart. Im sure that Effie sent him to you and to keep Ella company.
I think we all know you can never replace a loved one but knowing you helped a sad puss move into a loved and pampered and cared for home is all you really need.

So no I dont think its too fast and I sure as hell dont think you arent grieving for what youve lost but I hope that you can appreciate and learn to love the new friend you have for himself as he grows into the confident and loving cat I know you will help him be

What an adorable looking little tyke.

It's not a matter of too soon, I think fate played a part in this too. Archie needed a home he'd be loved in.

No matter how many cats share your home, past and present, each one leaves it's mark. I could never replace any of the felines I've lost; nor would I want to. But what I can do is find that space in my heart earmarked especially for any new family members that come along. That's the same for most, I'm sure. :care:

(PS: Jack and Toby were FAR from hard work, but Darwin, well he's definitely a boy. ;))

Oh Simon I hadn't realised that Effie was gone.

There is no such thing as too soon or too late to open your heart to another furry.  And who could resist that cheeky face. :Luv2:  He will will be loved and cherished and in time you will develop a bond.  It will be different  from the bond you shared with Effie but special in its own way and it will in no way diminish your love for Effie which will always endure.

OOO what a stunning little monkey  :wow:  ;D ;D ;D  He's like a cross between my lads Garf & Marl  :wow: :wow: :wow:

Welcome to Purrs Darlin Archie lad  :welcome:

Si there's def no time limit too soon or later and it's down to what you can give to another how you all feel.  I too adopted another babe every time one of my beloved babes went to the bridge. You hope in your heart of hearts that they will live long and wonderful lives but if the dreadful happens, they are always still deep in your heart and can never be forgotten of loved any less.  They will always be with us. I still get upset for my bridge babes and i do miss them very much. Time has given me some peace where i can also remember them in fun and pictures in my head of how gorgeous they were and will always be.
That can never be taken away from helping another little one have a great loved and happy life.

Archie lad  give ya dad's and Ya sis ell from me. You look like a little cheeky imp and i am sure you are being a ginge babe  ;) ;)

Si, Sean & Ella ... you're gonna be put in ya place now with Ginge lad. He will be running the family in no time!!  :evillaugh: :evillaugh: :evillaugh:

Exactly this

When I got the boys I wondered if I would be able to love them as much as I loved my beloved Tiggy and whether I would resent them for being here when she was not. The answers, as I'm sure you will discover are YES, you will love  little Archie as much as your beloved Effie but not instead of, as well as  And NO, you won't resent him but will very quickly fall in love

As if you didn't know it, but he's an absolute stunner  :Luv2:

Wonderful news!

Some people need time to get over a loss, others need to fill the void straight away - there's no right or wrong way, you do what you need to do.

Anyway, it's certainly not "too soon" for Archie - what a gorgeous little sweetheart!

Quote
Sean is head over heels with Archie and they are inseperable  - i think they have a ginger boy thing going on and they look like dad and son

 You must post a picture of them together!

Simon - I 100% concur with everything everyone has said. Defo not too soon to adopt another furbaby. It is so obviously fate and arranged by sweet Effie, that you be united. I think Archie will be a real tonic! He'll help with the healing process big time!

Oh and I suppose I should mention that he's flippin G O R G E O U S  :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2:

It's nice that Archie has a playmate - it should take some of the heat off you and Sean!

Two people in my office each recently adopted two kittens and they are pretty worn out by them!

Sure it will not be long before Ella gets used to Archie's unpredicable kitten ways and will soon be teaching him all things that kittens need to know. Would not be surprised if soon the pair are found curled up together with Archie getting a wash and brush up from Ella  ;)

I am only just getting my nights back after I also adopted spawn of the devil in the shape of Dave :evillaugh: I can't believe he's nearly 3! It's only in the last couple of months he's stopped badgering me incessantly at 4am for breakfast.

I think boys are much much harder work than girls, I don't remember Chilli giving me nearly as much trouble and even to this day Dave is the naughtiest (and clumsiest, amplifying the naughty).

Archie is cute though and they will always win when they give you their cutest face, reserved for one when they know they're in trouble!

Welcome to the world of ginger ninjas!  Ginger boys are trouble!  Hate to scare you but Mosi is 5 now and he is still a lunatic, still races about everywhere and still tries to snuggle into my neck at night (of course now that he's bigger all he can do is lean against my face!)

Title: Re: Introducing Archie
Post by: Rosella moggy on March 21, 2011, 13:26:08 PM
Yes yes Boys are much worse! Ella and Effie were trouble but not in this league!!!!

Not sure it's a boy/girl thing tbh Simon  :scared:  Our Groucho (black/brown) has never tried to climb our bare legs or attacked us in any way.  Neither did either of the (black) girls when they were wee.  I hate to be racist about this but I think it's a colour problem  :scared:

Bear in mind even Susanne's Jaffa has recently started to show his "true colours" (have to say pointing the finger at Mosi again Susanne is a bit unfair).  We've been catsitting for near neighbours' gingers for some years now and I remember with horror the daily clean up operation we had to go through for quite a while especially if they had access to newspapers  :naughty:

DON'T LET HIM NEAR NEWSPAPERS    :Nooooo:....well don't say I didn't warn you ...

Come on peeps, can anyone name a well behaved ginger kitten ...... I rest my case  :)

ETA  Ella is a very beautiful girl  :Luv: :Luv:.  She looks a little like twin sister of Helen's Lucas ...

Dave only has a little ginger on his tummy, surely this isn't enough to explain his outrageous naughtiness!?

I have just been bought a glue gun and Hannah and I have already had a good laugh thinking of the amount of trouble Dave could get into if i'm not extremely vigilant with it!

I can - Toby. Toby was a gentle, sweet, loving boy from the get go. He was never interested in toys and playing like other kittens, he just wanted to be near people. As long as he was, he was happy.  :Luv:

Our current ginger and white boy however.... :sneaky:

Bear in mind even Susanne's Jaffa has recently started to show his "true colours" (

Jaffa was a bit of a monkey in his day - he's just saintly compared to Mosi!

I hope all of you with gingers had a relatively quiet time yesterday between about 6pm and 7pm as Mosi seemed to be channeling all the ginger naughtiness in the universe at that time  :innocent:

Sean and I have talked about getting another black cat when we move, maybe not straight away as it would be too soon but I always want to give a black cat a home x

I'm with you on that one - I love black cats.  Well actually I love any colour of cat but I do have a soft spot for blacks.  That said,  one of my first cats was a Ginger female and she was soul mate.   :Luv2:  I was told they were rare but I've known or known of plenty so I don't think they're as rare as once thought.

Go away nasty worms  >:(  For you Archie boy

I think Black cats are stunning! They have this dark & mysterious air about them.

I know that's how they are usually portrayed but our lot have never been dark and mysterious .... mainly cheeky or incredibly sweet .... although Billy's best pics are when he pretends to be dark and mysterious  :)

Bless him. Have they both settled in ok? They seem to be closer in your photos.  :Luv:

I was lucky with my 2 we didn't have them until they were 5 and a half months old, and they've never been particularly scratchy, probably won't be so lucky next time we add to the  cat family.

Title: Re: The adventures of Ella and Archie!

I think I would put something on the fence to catproof it so he can't get out.  I would never take the chance again after what I went through with my Smudge, 8 months of hell and still on anti-depressants 4 years later.

The concentration on his face makes him look like a circus balancing act  :Luv2:
