A week ago I recieved an email by a friend who knew we were interested in rehoming a cat. The email said that she knew of a family 3 miles outside of where we lived who had a female kitten (same age as Elvis) that they could not keep anymore. I contacted the woman myself to find out what the story was.
She wrote back with her phone number so I called her. I arranged to go out and meet her to talk about the kitten. When we met she told me that she had bought the kitten at the same time as a puppy, however her older cat did not take to the kitten or puppy at all and she decided she couldnt keep the kitten. She was keeping the puppy though as in her eyes and I quote "I can't rightly get rid of the puppy now can I?" >:( Anyway she said the kitten was a cross breed bengal and that she wanted £100 for her. I said that wasnt possible. (she doesnt look bengal to me either, more tabby)
The woman got back in touch today and explained that no one was willing to pay that much for the kitten and she really needed it rehomed as the older cat was not taking very well to it at all. She offered me the kitten for £60. Again I said no as realistically we couldnt afford that at this time of the year. She phoned me back a couple of hours later and asked me if I would just come and take the kitten. I was delighted.
We went and picked her up today and took her home with us. :Luv2: She is beautiful. Her name is Miki (pronounced meekee) which my husband says is innuit for small. Elvis was not impressed at all to begin with. There was alot of growling and hissing etc. Shes been here 6 hrs now and they seem to have settled down slightly. Im confident that they will be friendly in time :)
Shes very shy just now and has hidden behind the sofa. Once she starts coming out of her shell I will post a picture up of her

Well done and hope that Miki and Elvis grow to love each other ;D

awww great news :)

Well done you - look forward to seeing the photos

Is this the kitten that was being sold on your Facebook?
-
So glad that you got her for nothing is so annoying when people do that get animals then just get rid of one.
-
that's fantastic, can't get over that silly woman saying she just couldn't get rid of the puppy - she shouldn't have got them in the first place and I think she was just trying to pull a fast one trying to get £100 off you.
Sounds like Elvis and Miki are gonna be great friends and nice for you to get a late birthday pressie too.

No that wee one was a boy, but the girl was adament she wanted to sell that one and as far as I know she got £75 for him. Miki and Elvis are still chasing eachother, growling etc and the occasional swipe but I'm sure in a couple of weeks things will have calmed down. I have gotten a couple of pics I will upload as soon as I can.

She definately looks more tabby than bengal to me? Here she is :) Miss Miki :)

She is stunning. I love that you can see Elvis' markings really clearly in that pic too :Luv2:
-
Thank you all :) I have a feeling she may well rule the roost  xxx

Bengal cross possibly. Not full Bengal, but stunning regardless! And Elvis is so handsome.
-
One word - phwoar! :drool; She sounds better off away from her previous owner
& :omg: you have Lucas' face twin! You know how you can always tell the difference between your cat and another one (whereas people who aren't their owners might say they are identical)? Well I seriously can't see one difference in their faces  Miki's body is very stripy compared to Lu as he has hardly any stripes on his sides and back but very stripy front legs, chest and face!

What a lovely cat and I reckon tabby too............what big ears lol, I am sure she will grow into them :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2:

Thank you everyone :)
Good news about the furries... I was anxious about them settling fine... sunday was a nightmare.. Elvis was not amused at all. Growling.. alot of hissing and fighting etc. Come sunday night they managed to get to the point of sleeping on the same sofa (not together... but very close to eachother) without fighting etc. Then tonight we caught the two of them grooming eachother :)
The agressive kind of fighting has now changed to play fighting. (Very very occasionaly one gets fed up of the play fight and has a go at the other) The growling and hissing has changed to cute purry kinda knoises, which I can only assume is them talking to eachother :)
Im very hopeful that they will be able to live together happily :)
