Is there anyone who is able to foster any FIV+ cats for us please? We are due 8 in. Possible foster home lined up for 2 pending home check. Ages vary, males and females. All vacced and neutered already..
We have until the 12th april as another rescue has appealed for help as they are full to bursting and expecting another 70 cats in.. On the 12th april they can bring them from down south to up to Nottingham way, anywhere inbetween, or anywhere localy down south kent way before or on 12th april..
-
If they are all from the same household it would really be worth having a glasgow test done (if not done so already :shy: ) May get a result for a couple fo them (wishful thinking!)
-
Will ask around Andrea - so it's six FIV cats currently located in Nottingham needing foster care if two already have it?
-
lAhh, not sure if we are still needing this at the moment.. The other rescue sent me an email and another rescue came in to take some and took more than they origianly said leaving 2 to come into us.. Now the transport has fell through at the moment so trying to re organise it.
As it stands it is now one FIV+ and FELV providing the transport can be arranged.. so if we can find a foster who would take the FELV and be on standby ready if they wouldn't mind?

I know I am going to get beaten up for this but
Fiv/Felv + cat should not be moved around better to PTS.
I also feel that people should be told which area these cats originate from and indeed the rescue.
-
Why should they pts? They can live good long healthy lifes if cared for properly. The only that is a must is that cannot be let out doors and to be kept indoors so no other cats can be infected..
-
Not they, I rehome Fiv plus and have a no kill policy.
I refer to the 1 single cat you refer to as being Fiv+Felv+, these do not live good long healthy lives
-
Ahh noo. Sorry I didnt put it clear.. Its one FIV+ cat and One FELV cat (=2 cats)
-
I still say Felv cat should not be moved around and no I am not being nasty, just trying to be careful
I am concerned that Nottingham area has a huge cat over population already and with kitten seson upon us you could end up with nowhere to squeeze in your own local rescues.
-
I must admit I would never mix an FelV cat with other cats
it's such a rotten disease
-
I have mixed 2 FIV+ at different times with the Clan - Holly a feral who died after 8 months and my wonderful feral Sailor who was rehomed with his FIV- sister Amber and came back to us after their folks lost their home - Sailor lived 7 glorious wonderful years and Amber is still with us
I had all my then 37 tested after a rescue Mum died from FIP along with her kittens except one who is still here with us as she was a Corona carrier - all the outside crew were tested before joining us but they would still be here as my mob aren't confrontational and as we have always had fosters over the last 10 years are used to the coming and going of adults and kittens
There was someone on Catchat a while back looking for an FELV to join his home - check the FIV section as he also has FIV cats to - sort of a private rescue I think

I get confused with the catchat forum, where is the FIV section on there?
Any FELV and FIV coming into us will be placed appropiatly, hence us asking for no other cat house holds to foster, or a foster home for FIV that has other FIV cats :)

If you go on to the forum and scroll down it's under the Help and Information section - called 'The FIV Owners Club'
-
Ahh right, thanks :)

Would you like someone to cross-post for you.
Also you should be able to see the link re FeLV sanctuary in my post below.
-
Ohh its let me post now.. Wont let me edit my profile though lol..
Yes i can see second link also, thanks :)
-
Is it a true FeLV cat or an inhouse labelled one?
Are all the others going to be retested in 12 weeks? Even if they are fostered in fiv homes they are still a big risk, if this one felv is a true carrier

Bob has responded on CC and is interested in details of the FeLV cat (he currently has 2 at the sanctuary):
Hi Andrea, well, yes, we did take on Amber (or Fizz as she is known) a few weeks ago. Billy is besotted, but Fizz is far too interested in everything else to pay him much attention yet, she's a real live wire!
If you could let me know the contact details re the FIV/FeLV, we could at least find out more details, and then see if we can help at all
-
Thanks Edd, he has emailed also and sorting it all out :)
