Hi
Just wondering if anyone else could feel their cat's microchip in their fur? I can feel Harvey's like it is sticking up sideways between his shoulders, not sure if that is entirely comfortable for him or in fact normal?
The reason I am slightly concerned is that I've only just adopted him and when I took him to have it done with his vaccs, the vet managed to get half of his vaccination to shoot out of the other side of his fur and so only had half the dosage requiring it to be started again. I've now changed vets and started his vaccs again.

I can feel one of mine and not the others... can also feel my mum's cat Max's so I'm pretty sure it's fine. I think it's just the way it went in if that makes sense?
I'm sure your boy is fine. :)

I've never felt my cat's and not sure whether it would be uncomfortable probably not but I would be concerned if it felt like it was poking in them - just ask what your new vet thinks.

I would get your new vet to check it, the way you describe it does sound odd. Keep an eye on it, any can migrate but when they are not implanted properly its more likely. Have it scanned regularly so if it moves you know its still easily found.
Taz was chipped when he was neutered and i could feel his half way down his shoulder the night i got him home, theres no excuse for bad placement in a sleeping cat! >:(

that old vet sounded incompedent and pleased you have changed, get new vet to advise on chip

Been to the vet for Harvey's second injection and she said that it wasn't his microchip I could feel but a lump, possibly a reaction to the injections. I have to wait 3 weeks then take him back in to see if it is any better and if not they may have to investigate further. I am sure it will be ok but glad I asked, thanks for your replies.

Yep that can happen, at least you know now it's not the chip - hope that the little lump starts to go :)
