Rarely post my rescues on here these days but I think we all agree that Friday was such a heartbreaking day for Purrs people, didnt post because I was crying for you all and fighting for 2 little lives now a little happiness to share some hope for better days ahead, so heres the story.
Hercules 8 weeks and Hester 4 weeks both ferals were brought to me lifeless on Friday afternoon, had I rushed them straight to vet they would have been pts, (severe cat flu). Spent over an hour rehydrating little Hester as she appeared to be nearest to death, then turned my attention to Hercules his eyes glued shut with puss and full of ulcers, his nose so solidly blocked it took ages to clean, fortunately I had the right medication available and we spent the remainder of the day and all night syringe feeding them both, Friday night I was convinced that Hercules would die at any minute,he was so lifeless for a kitten who should have been tearing me to shreds. Saturday and a visit to the vets told us that his right lung was badly infected but vet agreed that if we continued high level of care he could make it.
Well each day we have seen progress, Hercules is still very poorly but both he and Hester are now eating unaided and last night I was treated to the sight of Hecules washing himself, Hercules isnt moving about other than to food bowl and litter hes saving his strength but little Hester is having the time of her life playing and pretending she`s Miss Piggy.
I didnt manage to get a pic of Hester when she arrived as I was too busy caring for them, youngest son arrived when I was half way through cleaning up Hercules and took the pic that shows his suffering. The other 3 pics were taken this morning while I was mucking them out.
So Purrs peeps remember no matter how hard life seems there is always hope for better days
-
what a huge difference T, how lovely to have some good news for a change

I tend to agree. Gush away, Teresa deserves all the praise she gets; not to mention an MBE.
-
there is an idea JS!!!
-
Aww, I am so glad you have been able to work wonders with these two and fingers crossed they continue to go from strength to strength.
-
Great to see them both eating together in the last picture ands wish them a long and happy life

Positive healing vibes to this gorgeous duo~~~~~~C'mon babes! :wish:
T you are an absolute star!   :grouphug:
Have just realised that the "after" pics are on the thread too! :shy: :Luv2:
-
 well done T you've done a fantastic job, how poorly did they look and just look at them now!
-
Was very much hoping you would post about these 2 little uns Teresa :thanks:. So glad you were able to find time and that you were able to report such positive progress. Well done you. Others have said it better but you are indeed a star
-
What a fantastic achievement to bring those 2 little mites from the jaws of death and turn them into 2 beautiful kittens who hopefully under T s tender and dedicated care will go on to find wonderful homes, T certainly deserves an MBE
-
Aw... every time I read your threads I end up a blubbering wreck. :evillaugh:
They look so much better now. :)
-
Poor babies :care: Maybe they could star in the Purrs Save A Life Video Mk II
-

They would be honoured Helen.
Right am a tad embarassed about some of the words on this thread, got to just say there are no human stars, the cats are the stars and they are the ones who deserve the praise and recognition not me, I am just the lucky one who is able to help them through their dark days.
Update this morning Miss Piggy (Hester) still being a gannet, Hercules is brighter again, his eyes are looking good, he has eaten well but he still has the loud crackle on his right lung; will be glad when I can begin worm treatment but vet told me to hold off on flea and wormer for at least 5-7 days because their bodies were too weak.
-
glad they are getting stronger by the day!
-
So pleased they are getting stronger ;D
-
Paws Inn....The place where miricles really do happen! :Luv:
-
Poor little Hercules - just seen the piccies. Am so glad he's doing much better. And what a little cutie Hester is! ;D

-
Have to say that Hester is another Ripley  she has totally recovered now; Hercules is making good progress but still has a way to go, his eyes are so much better now with all green gunge gone, he still has a loud crackle on his right lung, but is now lying down and playing a little, will be taking him for another vet check this evening.
-
Aw another Ripley at the inn! :Luv2: Glad Hester is all better now! :wow:
Positive vibes for little Hercules at the vets tonight~~~~~Best of luck! ;) :Luv:
-
Has little Hercules been to the vet?
-
unable to take Hercules to vet due to yet another new arrival (long story). Spoke to Andy at length and he is happy to leave seeing him till early next week as long as he continues to make progress.

unable to take Hercules to vet due to yet another new arrival (long story).
Ah.
Spoke to Andy at length and he is happy to leave seeing him till early next week as long as he continues to make progress.
Sounds good to me ;D
-
Hercules has put up a bit of a fight while I was bathing and medicating his eyes this morning, a good sign that he is not only feeling better but his lung capacity is improving, he has also had a little play with a ball too. Still not had a purr from either of these ungrateful gannets but I have lots of patience. Hester got her claw caught up in their dangly lobster- no damage done but what a little squealer youd think she was being murdered,so lobster now removed and will have to find a new dangly.
Will get more pics soon.
-
he has also had a little play with a ball too
:Luv:
So, Hester's a little squealer, eh? :evillaugh: Lobster is always tricky. Paddy wouldn't have any truck with no lobster, oh no. He prefers his (rather well worn) Lexy banduj :Luv2: , his special turkey-lurkey, and his buzzy bee. Gotta watch dem lobstas! ;) :evillaugh:
-
Todays pics
-
they are just adorable T  :Luv2:
-
I love that last pic of Hester... She's going to stand for no nonsense when she's older, is she? :evillaugh:
They are both adorable.
-
:Luv: :Luv2: They are wonderful and I'm sure you'll hear their little engines soon :Luv:
-
Oh T they are fab! :Luv: :Luv:
-
Wow! Hester looks full of it, so glad she is getting stronger as she looks so much smaller than Hercules! :Luv2:
Now Hercules looks to me to be the strong silent type, definitely and Alpha male in the making there....Its good to know that the vet says next week for an apt..shows he has faith in the little one as he also has faith in your brilliant care T! Wishing the little one well! :Luv2: :Luv:
-
Well, he's not out of the woods yet but the difference in Hercules is astonishing :Luv: And you wouldn't know Hester had even had a bad start, looking at those pictures
-
these two are so cute, will they goes as a pair T?
-
:Luv: These two look wonderful, Teresa.
-
They are bothy lovely but Hercules has a Misa look about him , which I love ;D
-
Love the bottom piccie of Hester too. She looks like a right little challenger. :evillaugh: Hope she's not had any more unpleasant lobster encounters. ;) ;D
Hope Hercules is continuing to improve too. Can't believe the difference in his eyes already.
-
Heres a pic of them taken yesterday afternoon, think this answers your question Dawn, I could never spilt them up.
Hester has now stopped antibiotics, Hercules still on them but making great progress, cheeky chappie is becoming a tyrant when I bathe and medicate his eyes now, guess he`s feeling much better.
Sue lobster been removed will buy a new dangly at cash/carry tomorrow.
-
:Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2:
-
Oh my word - how fab is that piccie - look at little Hester snuggling up to her big bruvva! :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2: Oh that is just toooo faberlush for words!
-
Oh just look at them both! :Luv2:
So glad little Hester is off the anti bs now and by the sounds of it her big bro is coming on fabulously too! :Luv2: :Luv:
Best wishes for them both!
-
Aww, glad these two have improved so well.
-
This morning while i was cleaning his pen Hercules decided he was well enough to sit up watching me instead of lying down saving his energy, i managed to take his picture and at last it is clear to see that the Ugly duckling has turned into the most beautiful kitten; bought them a new dangly bird that cheeps this morning and both are having great fun playing.
Have sandwiched Day 1 pic inbetween both of this mornings, the difference is just ................. I`m lost for words.
-
the difference is just ................. I`m lost for words.
I am lost for words too, but not for tears.
-
Aw T, you've worked wonders with this little baby, he owes his life to you   xxx
-
Teresa, you've worked magic.  He's a different kitten. :)
-
The difference is amazing, you would never know how poorly he was, and all thanks to your care.
-
Wow, wow wow! Are you sure that's the same kitten? :wow: ;D
To look at the before pic and look at him now........That's another halo you have earned T!
-
Aunty T... :Flowers: Now that little boy is a true testament to the fabulous work you do. What a wonderful little boy. :Luv: Oh, if only I was allowed to have another baby :innocent:
-
Teresa, he is gorgeous! He has fairy whiskers like Mogs. :Luv:
-
Aaw Teresa :Luv: :Luv: :Luv: I envy your talent at restoring poorly puds back to health but not the heartache that goes with it
Truly stunning difference with Hercules; such an appropriate name coz that young chap had such a big hill to climb :)
-
What an amazing change in such a short space of time, you reall are a miracle worker Teresa
-
That is truly amazing T, what a miracle worker.
-
Just popping by for a smile and a snuzzle with Hester and Hercules. Hope they're enjoying their new cheepy bird. ;D :care:
-
The chirpy bird is a huge success, both kittens playing with it and Hercules is also playing a little football too, I guess his lung capacity is almost back to normal, his eyes no longer need aureomycin and on Saturday he had a milbemax, Hester has just had day 3 of panacur; we are so lucky to have got these little ones when we did.
-
:Luv2:
we are so lucky to have got these little ones when we did.
You can say that again..... :Luv:
-
Hercules must feel so much better :Luv: and all down to your special love and care T
-
Sending Hercules and Hester big cuddles today. :Luv:
-
I can't believe the change. They are so lucky to have found you T! :Luv:
-
Glad they are both doing great! ;D
we are so lucky to have got these little ones when we did.
*Ahem* .....I think your love, care and attention was used to the maximum with these two lovelies, They are so lucky to have found Paws Inn too! :Luv:
-
I am beginning to think these 2 are ungrateful little so and so`s, I make them better, I feed and groom them, I play with them and stroke them when they desire and all I ask is for a purr in return,No chance they are too busy enjoying life
-
:evillaugh: :evillaugh: :evillaugh: Prrrrrr, prrrrrr, prrrrr, prrrr :catlove2:
-
Another day of failure, not a single purr I live in hope
-
:evillaugh: glad to hear they are happy and having fun though :Luv2:
-
Awwww just look at those little babies. You have done a wonderfull job with them. They can't thank you for your dedication to make them better so i will do it for them. Thank you!
-
Awwww, I'm sure they'll give you a purr very soon  xxx
-
Another day of failure, not a single purr I live in hope
Have you not shown them how to purr Aunty T? :shify: :evillaugh:
I think they are exploring the naughty side of life first! :naughty: :Luv:
-
I think they're playing with you Teresa :evillaugh: I suspect the minute you turn your back they're purring and laffing like crazy :heeee heeee:
-
Still no Purr yet they love their cuddles and strokes; forgot to mention yesterday that I have now stopped all their medication as healthwise they are Purr fect apart from the missing purr
-
Im glad they enjoy their cuddles T..... They may not yet be
purr fect, but they could of easily have been de fect! "Always look on the bright side of life" ;) :Luv:
-
Glad to hear they are off their meds now ;D
:evillaugh: that purr wll gonna be extra special if when you hear it :Luv2:
-
Oh I reckon you'll hear it, some day soon. :)
-
Oh I reckon you'll hear it, some day soon. :)
Maybe I`ve gone deaf  or maybe someone has stolen their purrs
-
Feeverin' in Weaver'am! :shify:
-
Was stroking Hercules this morning and his bottom was so high and tail almost touching his head he almost somersaulted, such a happy pair but still Purr-less
-
Just a thought, but I wonder if they know how to purr? We had a dog once who didn't find her ability to bark until she was two. :-:
-
Trigger doesn't purr - he sort of snorts, and his flanks go up and down really fast so I know something is happening, but no actual purr, ever :(
-
Blip didn't purr until she had been with us for about a year, as I recall. The first time she did so, I was halfway to her cat carrier before I realised the funny noise she was making wasn't asthma :shify:
-
Byron's not much of purrer either it takes alot to get a purr
-
Sending lots and lots of special Purr vibes to our gorgeous ickle pair! :Luv2:
-
Moved this pair out of isolation yesterday and into the kitchen; Minimopsical has been quite depressed since young Ripley left so I have given her instructions to teach Hercules and Hester all she knows including Purring, Hester settled into the new room really well but poor old Hercules was terrified, not really suprising for an 11 week old feral who to date has only been handled by me, think he is also missing his television  As for Minimopsical she is delighted with her new charges.
-
Poor Hercules - what a culture shock! I'm sure they'll both be fine with Minimopsical in charge. :)
-
Aw bless him, I always think the girls seem more outgoing that boys in that way....
Im sure Mini is delighted with her new prodigy's.... Bless her for missing Ripley, she is so good with your new recruits and a special part of Paws Inn! :Luv2: :Luv2:
-
Watch out minimopsical they might steal your purrs when you least expect it :shify: :shify:
-
:Luv: so glad Minimopsical is happy again and ya never know you may get a purr at last :evillaugh:
-
:Luv2: Deep respeck' to Miss Minimopsical, and am glad she has two new charges to educate in the art of Purrmanship.
-
Quick update, Hercules and Hester are now in peak condition and all being well will have vaccinations tomorrow.
-
;D great news, fingers crossed for tomorrow xx
-
:) :) :)
-
Great news! ;D :Luv:
-
:yayyy: :yayyy: Fingies crossed for today's vaccinations, and am sooooo pleased these two have shaped up so well! ;D Big thank yous to Aunty T!
-
That's fantastic news ;D ;D ;D
-
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: Andy has been and was astounded at the progress and size of Hercules and Hester, clean bill of health for both and even though Hester is too young for vaccinations she is chunky enough, so both these kittens have now had 1st vaccinations. Must ask Claire to take some pics at weekend.
-
what great news!!!
-
Glad everying has gone well ;D
-
;D Such good news Teresa.
-
That's made my day :Luv:
-
That's made my day :Luv:
When I look back at those old pics and look at such gorgeous healthy kittens it makes my everyday, its also giving me the strength I need right now for nursing Garcia, had less than 3hours sleep since 5am sunday morning, it was the same with Hercules and Hester but just look what I`ve got to show for it.
-
:Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2:
-
Teresa - you, Claire and your OH are absolute wonders! Great news for Hercules and Hester. :)
-
Was so exhausted after 4 nights of sitting up with Garcia and didnt know where the strength was going to come from to do mucking out this morning. Well Hercules gave it to me, first I thought I was imagining it, then I thought it must have been Minimopsical and then as it became deeper and louder I knew for sure and the tears flowed as I cuddled my boy.
Hercules has finally PURRED
-
Hurrrayyyyy!!!! :wow: :yayyy: :yayyy: :cheer: :cheer: :Applause: :catplay2: Truly a golden moment!
-
:yayyy: :yayyy: :yayyy: :yayyy: :yayyy: :yayyy: :yayyy:

-
And that's made my day today :Luv:
Mine too, I wonder what tomorrow will bring
-
Yay! A purr from Hercules, thats a "Thank you" in cat language! :Luv:
-
Amazing.....I knew he had it in him.

-
:Luv2:
It's always wonderful when they first purr.
-
Managed to get a few pics of Hercules and Hester playing this morning, trouble is they arent very good because kittens are like mad maniacs

-
Awwww wow, just look at them :Luv2: :Luv: :Luv2:
-
:wow: I missed this yesterday! yey! well done Hercules
lovely photos :Luv2: :Luv:
-
I met Hercules and Hester on the day we picked up Ripley and I have never ever in my life seen such poorly kittens, ( I think they had been taken in by T the day before), they were in a sperate room in isolation at Paws Inn and I wasnt allowed to touch them, T had spent a lot of time with them cleaning them up and feeding them and I think she had been up most of the night with them, T was so careful with the isolation process that she had even had a bath and changed all her clothes before she would go anywhere near the other cats at Paws. I can not believe these pictures are of the two little poorly kittens I saw that day, it really is a miracle, they look like they are having real fun and I am pleased Minimopscial has some new charges to terrorise her after JO Ripley.
JO Ripley sends you hugs T and he says to Hester and Hercules .......... if yuz givs Minimopiscal just one of ur biskits per day she liks ur ed fur ya !!
-
As I suspect you realised they would be, Teresa, those pictures of Hercules are a really wonderful birthday present :Luv:
He looks just like a little Blip now :Luv:
Good to see Hester on fine form too.
-
These pictures brought tears to my eyes for the second time today. What joys! And I get to see them Sunday!!! :Luv: :Luv:
-
Wow what fantastic piccies T... Especially love the one with Mini and Hester, looks like battle has commenced! :evillaugh: :Luv2:
Hercules look like he has grown too.... Or is it cos he aint hunched up in the pics anymore... Either way "Well Done" and what a relief to see these two going from strength to strength! :Luv:
-
;D Teresa - what fantastic pictures.  Seeing kittens at play is always a joy, but when they've come through bad starts it's an absolute blessing. :care:
-
What lovely pictures of 2 very obviously happy kittens, well done T you really are an inspiration to us all with your dedication and love that is bestowed on these little ones
-
It's about time he purred!!! :evillaugh: That was well overdue!
The pictures are lovely. What gorgeous cats!
-
Think Aunty Ruth has got some footage of these 2.
-
Wonderful pictures.
-
Think Aunty Ruth has got some footage of these 2.
And wait til you all see them. Another miracle at the Inn. Going to upload them shortly, will take a little while but soon as I have it will post. And if we're lucky we'll see Minimopsical vying for a bit of camera time, a bit hard to do as she was on my lap at the time!
-
Ooooooooooooo I was hoping there would be pics ;D
-
Ok in no particular order.
(ps.. go back and have a look a the photos of when they arrived and then watch the videos). Still has me smiling. :Luv2:
Hercules is going to be a fashion star, he went straight for the straps of my bag :naughty:

Thanks for posting Ruth :)
-
:Luv: Wonderful!
Hercules looks so like Blip!
-
Ruth those videos are wonderful :thanks:, just thinking what a shame that we didnt capture Minimopsical searching for gold in your handbag
-
Gold in that handbag... It was huge, I thought Kitty was planning on moving in! :evillaugh:
Absolutely loved the vids, they had me grinning from ear to ear.... I loved the one where Mini was giving a swipe out! :Luv2:
Isnt Hercules a lot bigger than Hester, but for what she loses in height she gains in valour! ;) :Luv2:
-
Hercules is at least 5/6weeks older than Hester, but they were brought to me in the same carrier so no point in splitting them up as both were so very ill.
-
Oh right! I kept thinking they were bro and sis.... :shy:
-
No but from same feral colony
-
You can tell how close they are to each other! :Luv2:
-
oh boy, oh boy, oh boy - what wunnerful videos. :evillaugh: And what a little treasure Minimopsical is
Ruth - in my opinion, you didn't take a big enough handbag - you'd never have got them all in there, even if Aunty T hadn't been watching!
-
Just wondering how the little lovelies are doing?
-
There are great and hopefully tomorrow with be moved to a big outside pen.
-
:wooooo: :wooooo: :wooooo:
What totally fab news! Im sure with all that running around they do they could do with all that extra space! :Luv2:
-

-
T, that cat track they have got looks brilliant, which one is it ?
(not as good as the purrs one obviously but Ripley might like that one as well for Christmas :Luv2:)
-
Think it was something like senseit will check at weekend when I go to cash/carry
-
Had a lovely family round to meet Hercules and Hester this afternoon and they have Reserved Pixie and Dixie instead  I know I should be devastated but having my Hercules and of course Hester with me a while longer is a bonus

At least two babies got their new home, and the time will come for these two.
-
We had a lovely couple visit the Inn last weekend and they have decided to give Hercules and Hester a forever home.
They will be packing their bags tomorrow afternoon.
I know Teresa has a soft spot for Hercules so she will be sad she didnt get to say goodbye, but I know they will have an amazing new life.
Cx

-
That's lovely news for them both, happy days for them xx
-
I have a soft spot for these two too: it's the way little Hercules tried to defend Hester and she stood by him :Luv2: Good luck to them in their new home.
-
Super news :) Whilst Teresa will be sad no to have said goodbye, I'm sure it will lift her spirits that they have found such a good home together
-
Fantastic news for Hercules an Hester :wow:

Thank you, while its wonderful to see the difference I am finding it so upsetting knowing that I cant do the same anymore, guess I am lucky to have shared my life with such wonderful little fighters; Hercules will always hold a very special place in my heart and I will admit to being overly proud of my boy.
-
Thank you, while its wonderful to see the difference I am finding it so upsetting knowing that I cant do the same anymore haven't done the same for a few weeks, guess I am lucky to have shared my life with such wonderful little fighters; Hercules will always hold a very special place in my heart and I will admit to being overly rightly proud of my boy.
Sorted :Luv:
-
Wonderful pictures - I am sorry you are feeling sad Teresa, but just think of all the good you have done and how many cats you have helped, you have done way more than your fair share, and it is time for you now.
-
Am very jealous of the people these two now live with but glad they are so obviously living a very happy life :)
Simply gorgeous :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:
-
Aren't they wonderful! :Luv: :Luv:
-
How wonderful, we met Hercules and Hester when we went to pick up JO Ripley and they looked so poorly, I really thought they wouldnt make it as they looked a lot sicker than I had ever seen a cat look. But T worked her magic and look at them now, the black and white Paws Inn babies seemto be taking over the world :Luv2:
-
Just gorgeous - another wonderful Paws Inn story.
