Yesterday was one of the black days in my life.
I had to take my poor darling Fergus to the veterinary clinic nearby, a place I hate, with vets I hate, but I didn't think I had any choice.
When they phoned me later to tell me Fergus had gone, the stupid woman started to tell me details about his death, I didn't want to hear, so I started calling her names.
I then drove there in a rage, and what happened next is not very nice, but understandable for cat lovers.
I "invaded" the practice, yelling I wanted my cat. I was almost thrown out and I was told that I could have my cat, "if I just paid the bill"
This had me in a rage again, yelling at them it was a pet, not a TV.
Lots of things were said, in the end I left without Fergus, but determined to do something about this practice.
This morning, when at work, I phoned my husband, telling him to go and pay the bill and take Fergus home, without even THINKING about making excuses.
So Fergus is here now, we will bury him tonight, but...
the bill was already made, INCLUDING CREMATION !
So, if we had been delayed, I would never have seen my boy again!!
I hear nothing but bad things about this practice, people with a bleeding kitten that are left 1 hour in the waiting room and other things.
Surely, this has to be stopped!!

Oh Woodland Hun I am so sorry that you have had such a bad and negative experience at such a traumatic time. We are lucky that the vets we use now are so caring and compassionate but I have had dealings with a practice that both upset and disgusted me with a similar experience to yours when my baby boy Olly G died several years ago.
If I was you I would concentrate on laying Fergus to rest at the moment and give yourself time to grieve then write a letter of complaint to the Practice manager or who ever is in charge.
Thinking of you sweetie xxx

Oh god Woodland I dont know what to say, I am sure we all would have reacted the same, just take some time to remember Fergus darling and be happy in the memories you have of him x

Sorry to hear about your awful experience
I agree with Sheryl - write the Practice a strongly worded letter on Monday
Take care
-
that is terrible and most vets here do not give a bill until later , i was looking at fergus in his tarzn pics this afternoon and so sad that a happy cat like that can just suddenly be gone.
i agree you should concentrate on Fergus right now and then take the vets on
-
What a horrible experience for you, I'm so sorry  The letter sounds a good idea, but as others have said, give yourself time to grieve for Fergus.
-
I agree. I assume there is a governing body for vets? - I would write them a letter as well. :( - Any good vet should know how to treat people when they have just lost a loved pet.
-
So sorry about your heartbreak over Fergus, I am sure that The Royal Vetinary Society (sp) deal with problem Vets. I am sure that a complaint to them would yeild results, they have treated you and Fergus appallingly
-
I think it will be somewhere else for Woodland cos she is abroad on the continent but sure they have a governing body too
-
I am so sorry to hear of your terrible experience and to say -i would have done exactly the same as you did    .
As soon as you feel ready - a very strong letter of complaint is called for and maybe see a solicitor !?
They deserve to be struck off for such appalling treatment and their customers should be informed .
Please take care and i am so very sorry for your loss.
:candle: RIP Fergus - you were a very loved boy and your mummy and you will be together again one day . Play hard at the bridge , fit and healthy with lots of friends there.
-
Sorry for your awful experience at such a terrible time...Im afraid if it were my practice there would be set rules on how to speak to someone in these situations....Sounds like they are in it for love of money not the actual job! :(

-
What an insensitive person you had to deal with.... >:(
I'm so sorry that an already awful experience was made so much more traumatic
Id do what others have suggested, give yourself as much time as you need to grieve, then write a very strongly worded letter

I had a visit from two ladies who have this stray project here and they know all about this vet and his clinic.
It's a dad with his daughter and her husband and a lot of people have bad experience with them.
All 3 were present when I burst in a rage there and I could easily have killed them all.
My fingers are itching to spray "Animal clinic THE BIG PROFIT" on the door.
I'm not sure if there's an organisation where I can complain about this behaviour.
The sad thing is, I discovered I could have gone to my own vet, but I was convinced she had Thursday evenings off :(

I'm so sorry you have had such an awful experience at such an upsetting time. I agree with what others have said. Write a letter to the RCVS equivalent there, and then write a letter to your local paper. The bad publicity alone should hopefully be enough to make these vets sit up straight, but if it isn't then the governing veterinary body should be able to give them a severe ticking off.
 for you, hunny.
