I bought some Vetbed Gold for Clapton hoping it might help his skin as it is treated with something that kills bacteria etc and is supposed to help with skin problems. I have stopped using fabric conditioner on bedding as well in case that is causing it. His skin is a lot better but his fur looks yellow where he has previous skin problems. His fur looks pretty bad compared to a few years ago. I am feeding him EFAs etc.
Anyway, I didn't want to make him suspicious so just left it on the bed the other day.
I checked on him during the evening last night and he had moved onto it :Luv2:

awwww :Luv:
glad his skin his improving and it's a good idea to watch washing products too, hopefully the fur colour will change too.

Apparently, the antibacterial is actually made into the fabric so it doesn't wash out but the washing instructions are 40 degrees in a washing mashine, 105 degrees autoclave or 135 (I think) degrees vetwash. Are vetwash & autolave steam or something? seems odd that regular washing is such a low temperature?
Apparently, it kills spores, dust mites etc as well.
He used to have lovely, snow white fur (5 year old pics)

The brat annoying Clapton

Aw bless him! Hopefully he will eventually shed the discoloured fur and go back to his gorgeous white! :Luv2:

just seen this thread with photos of my favourite kitler looking very comfy (and why not). I love his ears in the one with the spat with the brat :P

I don't like the idea of impregnating materials they might sleep on with antibacs etc.
Love Clapton's upside down pic - like my Ben :Luv:
-
I don't think it is actually impregnated. It is chemically bonded to the material when it is made. I assume as vets use it, it is safe. I will dig the box out of the recycling to see what the stuff is called.

Aww what lovely pictures, I got some Vetbed for the boys but they hate it and won't even stand on it let alone sleep on it.
-
I don't like the feel of it but Clapton seems to like it - the gold is extra thick. It sets my teeth off just touching it

I have vet bed in Mogs carrier box but its by accident not design. I did have a nice blanket until she wee'd on it and I found it didnt like being washed (came out all lumpy and hard :evillaugh:) I was telling my parents who it turned out were throwing out a peice of vet bed as the old dog had died and the new dog wouldnt sleep on it. Its great in the box and washes so well if theres an accident. Of course since then Mogs hasnt wee'd in the box
Clapton looks so cosy
