I was just lying on the sofa minding my own business and half asleep, but Jaffa wasn't having any of that and has been mithering me for supper for some time now. I told him I'd feed him after the film had finished, but he was walking back and forth across me and whining. Eventually he misjudged it and trod on me so that a rear claw got me in the eye. I have a huge gash across the bridge of my nose and an agonising one on my eye lid (Im hoping he has not damaged my eye ball). It hurts like hell and there is so much blood on my tissue I'm amazed there's any left in me.
So why am I feeling bad? It hurt so much I leapt up from the sofa in pain and, after an initial shriek, was pacing up and down the room going "oh jaffa... oh jaffa... that really hurt. you've really hurt mummy.." and ended with him more upset than me! I wasn't actually shouting at him (too shocked to raise my voice or cry) - more moaning in pain - but the poor lad started hissing at me and Mosi and I ended up having to comfort him and give him a webbox treat 8)
I am going to have some explaining to do at work on monday. I look a right sight and the one on my eyelid really hurts. If I hadn't had a similar experience when Mosi scratched me on the lower eye lid a couple of years ago (and know they can't really do anything cos it's too near the eye ball) I'd be off to A&E - it's that sore :(
-
heh sorry, but the injured comforting the injurer... makes me
poor Jaffa, how *dare* you upset him?
 I hope your eye is better soon
-

I know, but if you could have seen his face! Poor lad was really upset at upsetting me
-
Poor Jaffa , hungry and unfed and then causing a terrible accident to his meowmy, no wonder he is upset
Hope your eye is OK
-
Ow ow ow. Poor you and poor "Innocent" jaffa!
-
Jaffa is now chilled out on the bed whilst I am looking at the mess on my face and wondering how to clean up all the dried blood :shify: I've just noticed I have a large scratch on my arm too (I think I brought that up to my face). Didn't notice in the panic about my eye. But as long as Jaffa's ok that's the main thng :shify:
-
Just taken a photo of my eye ;D This is going to look pretty tomorrow! The main scratch is in the crease of my eyelid as I scrunched my eye up the second Jaffa landed on it, so that part of the eyelid was actually over the eye itself at the moment of impact (hence my concern over the actual eye, but that seems fine). the scratch on my nose goes right up to the other eye.

Actually, that's quite a useful pic for me - obv I can't see that myself when I look in the mirror as my eye is closed. That's the best look I've managed to get.
-
oh ouch
-
Ouchy!!!! I'm sure jaffa is very very sorry........... :-[
-
ouch indeed! Glad you are going to A&E - you will need to have some treatment to avoid complications from infection .... That's going to take a while to heal .... Ouch Ouch Ouch ....   to all of you ...
-
Poor Susanne
I just hope people don't think you were in a drunken brawl :evillaugh:
-
:-: Blimey, Jaffa's a bruiser! ;) Hope your injuries are feeling a little less tender today. to you all.
-
Ooooh ouch!!! I hope it feels less sore today

I'm not going to A&E. Slightly concerned this morning though cos the top scratch (in the crease) is actually 2 scratches. Or at least I thought it was, but I think it might actually be one but the wound is open. When my eye is closed, both edges tend to sit together, but I can prise them apart and there seems to be quite a gash there. I assume it will heal ok? bearing in mind I don't have a car, going to A&E or a walk in centre would be rather difficult.

I know you can get plasters with silver in that help prevent scarring but obviously not for eyelids. Just wondering if there is a cream that might help? - important not to pick at it as it heals though :scared:
-
Oh dear that looks very painful and sore, im sure you need to get it seen by a doctor especially if its an open wound,, could get infected easily, and better to be safe then sorry
-
Ouchy! looks sore, have you put some antiseptic on like Germoline or Savlon?
-
Well I've had a shower now and it looks a lot better. With the exception of one, the marks on my actual eyelid were dried blood etc. and are now all washed away. The one big scratch in the crease is a gash but it is joining up of it's own accord. I prised it apart and it came apart, but it was already sticking together and unless I deliberately do that again (which obv I won't) the 2 edges are sticking together well.

That's what I was wondering. Whether there was a cream or something that I could put on to promote healing. The one it's going to be hard to resist picking is the one across my nose as that is forming a raised scar and it's so easy to just rub my nose and knock it off.

teatree is a good one, and arnica honey based products
have a quick word with a pharmacist and they can prob help
-
I think you should get them sen to by a medicall professional just to make sure there are no complictaion......they look horific
-
It doesn't look as bad today but there's no hiding it under make up! I've decided to just leave it be as it seems to be healing ok and I dont' want to do anything to disturb the scab that's forming. There's also some bruising at the inner corner of my eye but I think it will mend ok.

That looks very similar to the one Dave did to my cheek a while ago and I still have a visible bumpy scar there. I didn't pick it once either. I might get some of that bio-oil stuff if my Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream doesn't help fade it.
Sadly, Dave wasn't quite so sad or remorseful when he hurt me so be thankful Jaffa has a conscience! :evillaugh:
Hope it heals up well and quicker than mine did Susanne.
-
Ouchy, that looks nasty
-
Ouchy, that does look painful, I'd get it checked out with the doctor tomorrow to be on the safe side
-
That does look sore, Susanne. It looks clean at the moment though, so washing it gently might do the job. Obviously get it checked out if it becomes inflamed or weepy.
-
ooooh that looks sore  ... what a big clumsy lump that Jaffa is!
-
... what a big clumsy lump that Jaffa is!
Oy, you! No-one calls my Jaffa a 'big clumsy lump'. Not twice, anyway ;)

Thank you, Blip :Luv: :Luv: Too many people are calling me clumsy at the moment :(
Jaffa
xx

How are you feeling now? :(
-
Wow that looks so.....ouch! we are both in the wars, what with my Sam biting me (unintentionally), I later decided the swelling had gone down enough to do some gardening, only to wack meself in the eye with a twiggy branch (with seedhead attached) when it sprang back as I pruned it! I couldnt see for the next 10 mins as my eye was stinging so much and both eyes were watering for England! :see:
Hope your eye heals soon, and Jaffa forgives you for shouting!
-
It was doing fine until I woke up this morning and absentmindedly rubbed the eye with my hand! I've also managed to knock the scab of the nose scratch accidentally when I was pushing a strand of hair out of the way. Fingers crossed it looks better tomorrow. I was on a training course today and nobody said a word about it

They're probably terrified because they think you have an evening job as a professional hit(wo)man :evillaugh:
-
Ouch
-
Either that or you are a stunt double for that pop star whose beaten face was all over the papers ... I find it odd no-one mentioned it. That is taking politeness a little too far - what if you had been the victim of domestic violence? Oh wait! you were!!!
-
what if you had been the victim of domestic violence? Oh wait! you were!!!
The one above my eye isn't all that visible with my eye open, but you can see it. People that I know (in the library) did comment on it straight away, but nobody on the course said a thing  I guess it's that british reserve for you!
Come to think of it, nobody did seem to want to sit with me when we were doing something at the computers in twos. I thought they just hated me but perhaps they were just scared
-
   scarface!!!   you will be the talk of the library ...
