Well we are pleased to say that our very first arrival since OH and myself switched to independent rescue arrived with us yesterday and so I would like to introduce Punchy! ;)
We're not sold on the name and he doesn't answer to it so we will have to see if we can come up with something better for him. Reckon he's about 18mths old, un-neutered (surprise surprise!) but the most affectionate, friendly and loving little cat you could wish to meet.
He arrived in an old tv cardboard box and on lifting him out he just cuddled straight into my OH's shoulder. :Luv2: it was just soooo heartbreaking to see. Here is a piccie of the wee fella who is heading into the vet in the morning for the snip and we hope to find him his new home very soon. I'm sure that anyone who meets him will be :Luv2: with him as he is just stunning as well as having such a wonderful nature.

He is gorgeous Sarah, but does not look like a Punchy. He will have to have a special name being the first of many that I am sure Sunny Harbour is going to help.
-
Is that the name of the rescue Sunny Harbour? If so - what about Sonny for his name? He looks lovely :Luv2:
-
No he doesn't look like a Punchy at all does he Lesley?? I knew right away we would have to change it.
Yes, Gillian, Sunny Harbour is the name of our rescue. We decided to go for naming it after Sunny who was one of our 'special' cases that we managed to give a happy life to for 12months before he went to the bridge and Harbour.. as it means a place of safety and security / a refuge. :) (We wanted it to mean something special)
Sonny would be a nice name I think .... what about you guys?
-
An appropiate naming me thinks, tho sadly to be the first of many.
Good luck for his rehoming :luck:

Ah, so you already had a 'Sunny' then - you probably wouldnt want to use same name again (even different spelling)? I know I couldnt use any of the names of my bridge girls and boys again (despite loving some of the names!)
Sunny Harbour is a lovely name for the rescue.
-
I was posting earlier to suggest Sunny but knew the rescue was named after one of your specials already so didn't know whether you would want to use that name, but I think it would be an honour to your previous puss and to the rescue.

Congrats on going solo, must have missed that one#
Have to say he looks like our Cruelty case Brady he is a wonderful white pawed tabby I rescued after he was dumped in my old construction yars, was staying for christmas and he's still here nearly 5 years on and adores Robin just has one issue he's not a cats cat so adores the human side and is currently sitting on Robins knee with his paws round his neck watching cricket!
Our other white pawed tabby is a feral called Boston
He looks like someone will be very lucky once he's up for homing! :Luv2:
-
I think someone will be very lucky to have him once he is goes up for homing as he is such a little darling. Spoke to hubby earlier about his name and we are going to go with Sonny as Gill and Lesley suggested.
Sunny was named after Sunny Jim ... so whilst still along the same lines not 100% exactly the same but I know that Sunny Jim would be happy to let Punchy have his name sake especially as it is a kind of 'special' occasion.
Get him back from the snip tomorrow and get him through his MOT... and fingers crossed we can have him in a new home very soon. fingers crossed! :)
-
I Gill she Gillian   but I like the name Sonny for him too ;D
I only heard by accident that you were going solo and lots of luck with all the cats you are going to get in
-
thanks Gill.
It hasn't been the most 'public' of switches I suppose as we were discussing our options but we wanted to carry on with our rescue work but had exhausted all we could do with C.A.T.S.
But hey... you all know now! :) and we plan to get Sunny Harbour off to as good a start as we can.
-
ooooh congrats on going solo and fingers crossed Sonny will find a new forever home very soon :Luv2:
-
Sonny is a little sweetheart by the looks of it :Luv: :Luv: Good luck in going solo Sarah, I wish you and all your kitties all the best for the future
-
Good luck Sonny and Sunny Harbour rescue! :wow:
-
:thanks: Guys
Well little .... or not so little Sonny has just left with OH on his way to work to stop in at the vet for the day. All being well he will be home later this avo 2 stone lighter!!!! ;D and hopefully not as pongy! lol :wow:
Bless him, I can't complain actually as he has been very very good. He is living in our bathroom at the moment bless him, just doesn't seem to like being left in the dark overnight. We've been surprised though at just how 'good' he has been. He just longs for human company and I think that whoever does adopt him really is going to be getting a little star! :Luv2: :Luv2:
-
Aw bless Sonny he is gorgeous! Good Luck for his chop today! ;D
Brilliant news that you have started up your own rescue....hope all round you have success! ;)
-
well he is home safe and sound... but not very happy bless him although a little awwww... as he won't sit down at all... obviously a little sore bless him.
He won over everyone at the vets who all thought he was a real sweetie pie (which, of course he is) :Luv2: and is settling back at home and resting. :)
-
well fingers crossed folks... I have a lovely couple (hopefully) coming to meet Sonny this afternoon.... all fingers crossed it goes well! :) :ok:
-
Aww, he is lovely, I hope the people turned up yesterday and loved him. Congrats on going solo, I hope everything works out well for you.
-
well great news folks!!! :)
The couple who came to see Sonny yesterday afternoon fell in love with him. We popped out to get the old girl then headed over to drop off Sonny where he seems to have settled wonderfully.
There was a real surprise in store for me and the new slaves of Sonny too... cos when I opened the door it was an ex boyfriend :wow: and his now fiancee.... funny wasn't the word... or at least I thought it was! lol
That said though I couldn't think of a better home for Sonny as I know how much he likes his animals and they were head over heels for Sonny.
He will get a follow up check in a couple of weeks but I don't foresee any problems as he is such a sweetie pie and is going to be spoilt rotten to say the least!! ;)
-
how funny! At least you know him better than the average homechecker!!! well done Sonny
-
I am definitely kidnapping you and bringing you down here to run my rescue, you don't have them there five minutes
-
haven't you got any ex's who'll take cats Lesley??
-
lmao yeah..... hopefully Sonny wasn't just a fluke! lol
-
