Yet she is still very sprightly...it seems as if she has a furball and she's trying to cough it out. She did this weird coughing thing earlier on and so I gently patted her body (as you would with a human who had something stuck in their throat) and so she stopped coughing and then carried on being manic etc.
But just now we'v heard her coughing again and to be honest, after losing our other cat a few weeks ago it is quite distressing.
If a cat is unable to make itself sick due to not being allowed outside (and thus, no grass). Can they still cough the furball out?
This is providing it is a furball. If it sounds like something else then please say

Sounds like a nasty furball to me Steve, please try not to worry..
They can cough the blighter's out but without having access to grass (being able to make itself sick) it will take longer....
Deferrum is good for bringing them up....you can buy it from Pets at home....not sure if they do the paste? Which is prob better as you can apply it to the paws and your cat will lick it off! ;)

My indoor cat Oliver occasionally does the hacking bout due to furballs, but as far as I know he never spitted it out. It seems that, according to the vet when I asked, it just goes down the other channel and come out from the other end!

Mine tend to gobble biscuits and that will do it !
