Sorry I havent been able to update on this little one before now, things were not as straightforward as they first appeared and in order to protect Holly and do things legally I had to keep quiet.
Holly had a badly fractured pelvis that needed a Sacral Illiac pin fitting, she has struggled to put weight on her leg and has a little muscle wastage.
The Good News is that she has now been discharged from the vets and is currently settling in here, though she will need further surgery at a later date.
This girl owes her life to Purrs and I`m sure she would like to send you all lots of furry headbutts.

I thought she had been reclaimed by her owner or is that part of the complication?? Anyway glad she is in your care and getting better
-
What a beautiful girl. I hope the journey home to Paws Inn was ok for you all. I am so glad she is now with you and can begin her road to recovery.
Sending her cuddles for now, but will look forward to getting some from her at the weekend!!!
She looks very comfy on her lovely fluffy bed!

Great news she's recovering well T. :Luv:

I hadn`t met Holly until today and the vet nurse took us into a huge consulting room and brought Holly in on a fleecey blanket which she placed on the floor. I sat on the floor to introduce myself and Holly refused to attempt to walk. Some 10 minutes later after she had enjoyed a jolly good fuss she spotted the cat carrier behind me,amazingly she stood up walked over to the carrier and attempted to get herself in; their wasnt a dry eye in the room it was as if Holly had said you`ll do .
She`s got a long way to go but she will get there I am certain.
Dawn F the complications were of the unsavoury human variety.
-
That is lovely Teresa - Holly is in the best possible place now - sending lots of cuddles to a beautiful girl.
-
So glad you've rescued her, look forward to hearing her progress and eventually her new forever home :)
-
Isn't Holly lovely? I'm glad she has been safely delivered to Paws Inn now.
-
I am so pleased she decided that you would do
-
So glad this lovely girl is in your paws T....she can hopefully let her past go now!
-
:Luv: she is lovely, glad she thinks you will do :Luv2: well done T
-
Aww, fingers crossed for her recovery.
-
Will be taking Holly to meet my vet tomorrow; am concerned about the muscle wastage and the fact her leg keeps folding in under her; so I want to make sure that everything is as it should be.
She is enjoying her food and loves being stroked as she lies spread out on her posh new vet bed.
-
Hope all goes well ;D
-
Holly saw the vet this morning and her problems stem from nerve damage and thankfully all is progressing normally, vet says probably be another 5 weeks before we see real improvement. She has some extra medication and will go back next week for a check up.
-
Yayy! That's good news.....atleast now you know that she is on the road to recovery!
-
Forgot to mention when I brought Holly home I thought I had gone mad when I saw her back end so I got the vet to take a look this morning; it seems the beautiful girl is indeed a very handsome Boy. :) I am at a loss as to how he could be shaved from waist downwards, undergo major surgery and spend over 3 weeks hospitalisation without anyone noticing.
-
oooh - poor old Holly, the indignity! Hope this doesn't set back his recovery!!
-
My goodness Teresa, these were vets ?
Mind you when I first took Kocka to the vet they said Kocka was a girl, when she went back next time they said she was a boy! I gave up and kept her as a girl and she was also registeed with insurance as a girkl.
Many years later, and my vet always called her a she at my request, I saw some aussie vet when she was really ill and he came out with her and to my horror called her poor little chap! Despite telling him that she was always known as a she, he shut his ears >:(
I am sure Holly knows exactly what identy he/she wants and of course Holly can be a male or female name ;D
-
I had a Holly, who was once a Noel, so maybe to balance the cosmos...
Sending healing vibes...

Oops, someone needs a new name!!
-
Oops, someone needs a new name!!
Already rectified, the H has been dropped and Holly has become Olly
Think his new medication and being in a home environment is doing the world of good, he has managed several steps today. :)
-
That is brilliant news. I am so pleased.
Sending gentle cuddles his way.
Claire xxx
P.S - The naming committee like Olly!
-
Olly is continuing to make progress and manages several steps at a time now, his back leg seems to be stronger and rarely folds in under him now.
He discovered chicken yesterday and Aunty Claire cuddles today and is one highly delighted boy who thinks all his dreams have come true :)
-
So pleased Olly is doing well, sending lots of strokes to him and, yes, hard to believe nobody else realised he was a boy.
-
aww, wonderful to hear that 'he' is doing well. We took in 11mo brother and sister (unneutered) a few weeks ago, and i did express surprise at no kittens - turns out they were sisters, can't believe she had had them for 8/9months and not noticed!!
-
So pleased he is improving with his walking ;D

Which, of course, they have :Luv:
And at least he is with people who can see that he is a boy!
-
Olly has been a bad boy today,he climbed 3 stairs and when I carefully lifted him down he spotted some chicken I had on a worktop as a treat, the little terror somehow stood on his hind legs trying to reach said chicken.During his long periods of cage rest he has been keeping himself amused with body building techniques (eating) and singing. This little man has an enormous character hidden within his scrawny frame. :)
-
Olly is not bad , he is just getting his muscles back

Hands off! :naughty:
You have to love this little blighter. He's so cuddly.
-
I have had the pleasure of cuddling this man and also feeding him chicken!!! He is so loving and gentle considering what he has been through.
I think he might even be starting to fall for Anastasia!!
What a cheeky boy he is - he has a purrfect personality.
-
It does seem the ones that had had it the worst are often the most loving and gentle :Luv2:
-
This very wicked boy has run me ragged today, he has managed to climb all the way up the stairs and then when he got to the top entertained me with his version of The Beatles, Help! Seems he can get up but not down.
Heres a few pics I took earlier while he was exercising.

With spirit like that he is, quite simply, irresistable :Luv2:
-
I am sure he will get there and then he will have you chasing him up and down stairs ;D
-
Wow, you must be so pleased to see him like that. Does he have any other complications from the accident?
Theres not much to a cat when you take away the hair :Luv:
-

I couldn't have put it better myself!!! Once all that fur is gone!!

Believe it or not he still has hardly any feeling in his back leg; he does tend to be a little tender around his ribs but no other complications; Olly is one very lucky boy to have cheated death.
He is rather scrawny on his bald end, we are working on that
-
Olly is turning into a monster, yesterday evening we had an extended exercise period which he loved and behaved like a perfect gentleman. Today his exercise period involved a very heavy strop on my nice hall carpet; I told him no and began scratching the large scratching post with my finger nails to show him what to do, he ran upstairs and had a good strop on my upstairs carpet  He must be getting better ,he`s certainly getting faster.
-
I am afraid the step at the top and the one at the bottom have Miss Sasas claw marks permanently engraved and Olly sounds like he knows exactly what he is doing
Maybe he thinks you need more exercise :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
More pictures of the little man would be nice..............one clawing the carpet maybe :naughty:
-

GO BOY!
-
Well, I had my weekly visit to the Inn today and got the chance to cuddle Mr Olly for the second time now. I took some chicken with me so he was very friendly, but then decided he would rather laze in the sun than have a little walk around and take his daily exercise. Here he is looking very handsome sitting in the sun.....the next photo is him starting to eye up the scratching post and finally he makes his move and has a good scratch and stretch. It seems that Auntie Claire has the magic and managed to get him to use the post rather than the carpet! It is amazing what chicken can do!

Wonderful pics.
-
Claire those are lovely pictures :thanks:
-
I`ve been a really clever boy this morning and managed to perform my first leap up; ok only a small leap but I`ve been eyeing up the beds on the scratching post,it seems Anastasia likes the top bed and Buster likes the bottom one with Tula cuddling up to him, the lovely middle bed seemed to have my name on it so I went for it - One small leap but an enormous one in my recovery. :)

What a clever boy Olly, you can always try and cuddle uo to Anastasia if you feel lonely. She is lovely. ;)
-
Just realised that I hadn't updated on the lovely Olly.
Over the last couple of weeks he has really gained strength in his leg and now runs up and down the stairs at a great rate of knots,he can now successfully climb to the top of the scratching post and get himself down again. I think this lad is now ready for rehoming.
-
Wonderful :Luv:
-
Aww, that is wonderful news T, I do hope he isn't waiting long.
-
Fantastic news T...
-
Olly has really made himself at home and is trying to worm his way into the affections of Busters girlfriends when Buster isn`t looking. Dont think Tula was overly impressed with his charms.
This gorgeous boy is still looking for a home maybe having no trousers is putting people off. Hopefully his fur will regrow when the weather gets warmer and someone will fall in love with him.

Aww, glad he is doing well, and I can't believe he hasn't been snapped up yet.
-
What a gorgeous boy Olly is :Luv2:
So pleased he is doing so well :)
-
Almost 2 months since Ollys last update so here goes.
This gorgeous boy seems to be having sensitivity issues, his fur has still not re grown and is patchy, he has a hole on his neck from a Frontline combo burn which is taking an age to heal and now he has a totally bald toe. The vet thinks that after his accident he had no feeling in lower regions of his body due to nerve damage and now for some reason the damage has repaired and he is hyper sensitive, he may need monthly injections for life, vet will review in 4 weeks time.
Meanwhile the crafty rogue has been doing his best to worm his way into our affections and getting ready to fill Busters paws when the time comes; last night he was being very good after seeing the vet and literally crying because the injections hurt him so much; he was watching over Buster who is not doing too well and he gave Buster a wash to perk him up; so I decided a little promotion was on the cards and explained to Olly that we will never have another President but if he swears to care for Buster I would make him a Senator; Olly has accepted his promotion and slept with Buster last night.
So thats it Holly the Lancs cat became Olly who is now Senator Olly the Cheshire cat with a big happy grin :)
-
Aww, poor Olly, I do hope that the injections work.

Brave Senator Olly. I hope the injections work. Have you any idea why his fur is not growing back, Teresa?
-
Christine
No idea other than it is related to hyper sensitivities.
-
Senator Olly has been a bad lad and eaten his toe again so its back to vet for 11am. looking back his injections havent even lasted 3 weeks- more later
-
Olly always had designs on the late Busters crown, well he has got more than he bargained for, Andy has presented him with a Buster collar which he must keep on until all the steroids are out of his system so that he can have extensive skin tests and a possible toe amputation. That will teach him to have ideas of grandeur :Luv:
-
:evillaugh: a big :cuddle: for the lad.
-

Poor Olly. to him.

We have hadthe camera out today and thought you might like to see Olly a year on from his accident. He is Purr Master General of Paws Inn.
He has enjoyed a lovely morning of cuddles and play (as always!).
-
Bless that brave boy :Luv:
-
He looks like royalty sitting there with his paw up, as if ready to have it kissed :Luv: :Luv:
