Tried the breed selector and it came up with maine coon and norwegian forest. Think I prefer the maine coon! Just read up on the breed and will have another look on the internet.

I did that breed selector thing (and I did it honestly - not trying to get it to pick a particular breed) and guess what it came up with? Somali!! yes, really! Guess I got it right without the breed selector

Yeah thats the best thing to do to be honest. I loved Maine Coons bold features & build.. not to mention the little ear tufts & true beauty of them.

But im a softy over any cat, well any animal actually !

No I have had 3 cats previous to this beaut.. all grew into lovely cats.. 1 got hit in a RTA, The other was feral & did a runner (

& Marley lives with my mum in the sticks (he loves it there !)

I am exactly the same ! I constantly chat 'Leo' at work, at home, to anyone that will listen ! I printed out all his pics last night & am getting him a special folder with plastic wallets to keep all his bits in. All I do at the mo is think of him, dream of him & pray it goes quick !

we went to see him on 27th Aug & we pick him up 22nd.. so yeah a month ! its Tourture !!

I bet you cant wait! When I first saw Mosi he was about 10 weeks old and I had to wait nearly 4 weeks before I could go and get him - they were the longest 4 weeks of my life! I talked of nothing else at work and put his pic up on the wall.

He'll take a few years to get his full, adult coat. Mosi's is quite short at the moment (he's a somali) but I think it will get a bit longer in the winter.

A friend of mine has just had to have her maine coon shaved (he has a lion cut - poor lad!) because his fur was all matted as he doesn't like being groomed.

I was just about to say the same thing!

We got Dylan and Smudge from Coventry Cat Group Rescue at about 9 months old

Although saying that, they were still kittens and Dylan's coat has changed dramatically, He had a very fluffy but short coat which is still VERY fluffy, (esp. when brushed up!) but also developed into a gorgeous thick mane and coat. Truly scrumptious if a little biased!!!!

Yes the Breeder said exactly that. Thicker in Winter, finer in Summer.. I suppose I will have to wait & see him grow ! xx

Ah right ok I don't know much/anything about Maine Coon fur so I am not sure if that is normal or not for Mum and Dad to have such different length coats.

Do Maine Coons grow a huge thick winter coat and then lose it all in the summer and look quite short haired? If they do then you might find this winter he only loses his kitten coat for a short while and then starts to grow his first ever winter coat. As Leo will be neutered at the end of this year/start of next you'll find he'll get a very nice coat next year as neuters have better thicker coats than entire cats.

He will lose his fluffy kitten coat at some point but he'll then grow his proper adult coat through.
