Right well I've been worrying about poor Lia ever since I found out about her, so I've been up to the services this evening for a look around. No sign of her unfortunately, and I can see how Sabrina could have been looking for hours, there is so much undergrowth and so many nooks and crannies, most of which are fenced off. I'd thought going after dark might be quieter with more chance of seeing her if she is still in the area, but it's still so noisy there - it's basically at the end of the runway so there's a constant supply of planes taking off and lots of noisy traffic movement, lights etc. I spoke to the duty manager in the Days Inn, who was just lovely. She told me where all the bins were kept but said that because it's a 24hr services there is always a lot of crashing about so she probably wouldn't go there. She also thought the most likely place for her was to have headed over towards the golf course and houses beyond it - so that's definitely going to be the place to go leafleting on Saturday. She's taken my details and will let me know if she hears anything at all from staff or guests. There were an awful lot of bunnies hopping around the edges of the premises so she should at least be ok for food.
I've also contacted E.Herts council who confirm that they haven't picked Lia up from the roads and when they do find them, they do scan all animals for a chip. I've emailed the golf club (although I haven't had a reply) and asked them to notify their grounds maintenance staff and to put a poster up in their staff room/club member notice board.
So sadly nothing more to report; I think all we can do now is hope that the leaflets can get some local residents to keep an eye out and hope that Lia makes her way towards the houses.
