Thank you! yes, its hard to be in Germany and Lia is so far away somewhere..

Well, I came to the UK 2 years ago and I bought Lia and Lua there. I never had a cat before, but now I just love them so much. They are both very friendly and quite cats. Lua is more like a baby, Lia is stronger. They went outside every day for a few hours but they always came back before night. They were very close to each other. Very lovely :( Lia was always sitting on the top of me. only me, whereever i was lying :) She was very shy to strangers. Well, they are just lovely cats and I hope so so much that Lua can be with her sister again one day :(

     I can only send ya loads of hugs hun cause it must be awful for you without her and so far away.

Can ya tell us a bit more about Lia :)  We would love to hear about her and her sister.  ;D

Are they indoor cats? Were they born in UK or did ya bring them from Germany to live here?

What's Lia's personality like?

Nice to have another CP bod on board  :)  :welcome: Sue and thanks for all you're doing too  I think Lia has really struck a chord with me as a cat lover as it must be terrible for her owner to be so far away and so helpless  :(

I take it Lia is not spayed then  :shy: I wonder if she was an indoor cat in the UK, will make it even harder on her being out there alone if she's not used to even being outdoors  :(

I'm the CP person. I've notified Herts & Essex Petsearch and Animal Rescue Charity at Foxdells Farm in Stortford and have made contact with someone who works at the Services who will put up posters that Tan sends. I'll also get copies to local vets (Kews, Mercer & Hughes, BS Vet Hospital & A120 vets)

Alison & Tan - could you keep me informed of developments. As Tan says, it may be us who has to take on any kittens. My email is in my profile or via http://harlow.cats.org.uk.

Oh what a shame it's not Lia  :'(  Excellent news that the paper has posted something though, hopefully it will get people looking.  I've printed off a huge wadge of leaflets and am going to start doing some after dinner.  Fingers crossed she is still nearby and someone spots her.

Tan - as the paper has your number, do you want me to pm you my number in case you need someone local to follow something up?  Obviously you can pm me on here too but phone is a bit more immediate especially if someone thinks they have caught her!

Edit: just got back, I've done most of the roads around the edge of the golf course.  It's a quiet residential area with very little traffic and lots of cats so hopefully lots of cat lovers, so with a bit of luck she will head that way and be spotted.  I'm optimistic that it's the sort of neighbourhood where people will genuinely keep their eyes out and will get in contact if they see anything - without wanting to reinforce stereotypes it's also the sort of neighbourhood where I suspect a lot of residents are also members of the golf club so hopefully that will give us some extra eyes, ears and gossip mechanisms in there too.  Fingers crossed x

 :( Nope not Lia.

It's a young tabby.

It was the local Observer that gave them my number so they must have it advertised or the family rang them.

Just need to keep looking for her  :(

OMG  Just had a call from a family who lives near the M11 and they have been given my number from the email i sent the local paper in the Area.

They have been feeding a "diff" colour cat for about 2 weeks who is "living" in their tree at the back of their house. They have a cat of their own so they haven't let him/her in but they say it is a young cat and quite scared.

They live down the M11 near a bridge but about 8 miles so not sure but i sooo hope this is Lia.

I have  emailed them a pic of Lia to see if they say it's her so hopefully in a mo will have their reply or call again.

Keep ya fingers crossed hunnies

the promising thing is that golf courses are reasonably quiet places, where more people walk than rush around, so if the club will put up posters where anyone setting of on a round sill see them they will be in an ideal position to spot a cat wandering around

That's so kind of you to go looking for her fluffybunny  It's a shame there's been no sightings but as Sabrina is so far away it's almost impossible for her to 'spread the word' so at least people will start to become aware of her now.

I emailed all the local PCSO's asking them to keep an eye out when they're out and about and gave them my mobile number so fingers crossed.

Right well I've been worrying about poor Lia ever since I found out about her, so I've been up to the services this evening for a look around.  No sign of her unfortunately, and I can see how Sabrina could have been looking for hours, there is so much undergrowth and so many nooks and crannies, most of which are fenced off.  I'd thought going after dark might be quieter with more chance of seeing her if she is still in the area, but it's still so noisy there - it's basically at the end of the runway so there's a constant supply of planes taking off and lots of noisy traffic movement, lights etc.  I spoke to the duty manager in the Days Inn, who was just lovely.  She told me where all the bins were kept but said that because it's a 24hr services there is always a lot of crashing about so she probably wouldn't go there.  She also thought the most likely place for her was to have headed over towards the golf course and houses beyond it - so that's definitely going to be the place to go leafleting on Saturday.  She's taken my details and will let me know if she hears anything at all from staff or guests.  There were an awful lot of bunnies hopping around the edges of the premises so she should at least be ok for food.

I've also contacted E.Herts council who confirm that they haven't picked Lia up from the roads and when they do find them, they do scan all animals for a chip.  I've emailed the golf club (although I haven't had a reply) and asked them to notify their grounds maintenance staff and to put a poster up in their staff room/club member notice board.

So sadly nothing more to report; I think all we can do now is hope that the leaflets can get some local residents to keep an eye out and hope that Lia makes her way towards the houses.

Hi Alison ... I sent an email with a pic and my contact details to the service station and the Days Inn Hotel but if you could pop a "proper poster" into these places it might be an idea.

Thank you so much for doing this ... I wish I was nearer to coe and give you a hand.  If I can be any  help just let me know.  If you need any posters printing off I can do that and post them to you.

Ok no problem it seems as if the rescues are covered then, plus if she has a UK chip then rescues/vets should hopefully be able to get in contact anyway if she does turn up.

I guess a silver lining of her being longhaired is that her coat may start to show that she's stray, whereas last week people may have seen her and not realised she was lost.  I do hope she is still somewhere nearby and can still be reunited with Sabrina.  I will definitely focus on the golf club on Saturday too, I think that's the most likely place that she will be.

I think Sabrina contacted the rescues in area but not sure which ones.

Lia must be out there somewhere and prob quite near too, The golf grounds do sound hopeful as it will have shelter.  It's been quite a while now so i so so hope she is ok.  :scared:  :Luv:

That's so lovely of you fluffybunny

The golf course/groundsman is an excellent idea as she may well be hiding out there and there will be people out and about who may have seen her.

I'm fairly sure scanners pick up foreign chips but given Lia's age I'm wondering whether she was chipped in the UK as she's only a youngster so may have been born here.

Edd had kindly volunteered to ring vets/rescues if that was needed - so maybe you could pass the info to Edd and see if she is still up for doing that

If any help is needed registering Lia missing with local vets/rescues - happy to start telephoning them tomorrow as Sabrina probably does not know the area.   Just let me know if you want me to do that.

It would be amazing if the collective effort of Purrs members could help find her and get her home, must be agonising for Sabrina being so helpless and far away  :(

Hi Tan,

I have spoken to Sabrina by email, she has sent me some photos which I will make into posters/leaflets tomorrow - as I am a native English speaker it is probably easier for me to do that, and we'll also add my contact details as people might be more inclined to get in contact with someone local especially if they're not sure if they've seen her.

I'm working from home tomorrow so I can ring the council, the golf club and the hotels, local vets etc, and on Saturday I'm going to take posters to the services and any hotels there, and to the golf club - and ask them there to make sure the groundsman knows, as if she is still in the area she may be spotted by golfers or grounds maintenance staff.  Then I can do some leaflet dropping in some of the nearby roads depending on how much time I have.  Can you think of anything else, I'm trying to think what I would do if it was my cat, as I feel so sad for Sabrina feeling so helpless in another country  :'(  If she is found and scanned, will the chip pick up details from abroad, or should I contact rescues in the area as well?

I have only just seen this thanks to the 'news' article at the top of the web page.  I live relatively near there and will be passing through that junction on Saturday - I will take some time out to have a swing into the services and have a look around.

Edited to add: I have just had a look on google maps and there is a golf course right behind the services as well - have you tried contacting the course owners and asking them to put up posters?

There are also some residential streets nearby the back there - if you can do a small leaflet with some contact details I'll happily print off a batch and do some deliveries in some of those nearby roads.  Send me a pm if I can help and I'll give you my email address.

What a lovely offer

I hope Sabrina sees this and gets back to you in time, she hasn't logged on since posting the original message and her email in her profile is hidden. I don't think she'll have the PM function available to her yet as a newbie, perhaps you could PM Tan and see if she has any info she can pass.

Sabrina is in Freiburg.

I was thinking wouldn't it be great if it was the same place. I know it is a long shot but you never know. If a mayor or similar was involved, stops might be pulled out to find Lia?
