Debbie, if you are interested in Tarzan PM me your phone number and I'll send it to Nicky. She's really busy but tends to read my emails pretty quickly due to me doing her site for her. ;)

Hi

I left my details about Tarzan following your message but nobody contacted me.  I've been in touch with the poster of Timmy and I'm just waiting for a further response.  I dont want to mess people about so it's now probably best I wait until she gets back to me with her reply first.

Thanks for asking though  :shy:

Did you decide Tarzan was too far away then, Debbie? (Sorry, not hounding you - just thought you'd look at this thread more than Tarzans.)

Really?  I would definitely be interested then.  I could travel so far to collect him but Gloucester there and back in a day was a bit much for me.

Hmmm Charlie does appear to have been on there an awful long time. He's certainly not at the shelter anymore but I'm wondering if he's not been taken down due to being in foster care. I'll check for you over the weekend and the page will be fully updated next week.

I'd third, fourth and fifth the idea of a Paws Inn resident for you. I'm sure it's better for you and your new pusscat to be in the same area.

If Charlie is still available you'd probably just need to get a local CP check done but I do have a feeling he might have just slipped thorugh the net and is probably curled up on someone's bed by now.

Paws Inn Cats are gorgeous and have the added bonus of Minipop training and of course all the love and care Auntie T gives them and if you aren't faraway from Aunty T then go to Paws Inn master Ripley came from there and Garcia is on my kidnap list!

Why not send Teresa (Pawcats) a PM?  She's in Weaverham.  Her standards are the highest but she's not doctrinaire

how riduclous, keeping a cat costs money and so you need a job, this is just the sort of thing that sends people to petshops and freeads

Here, here....and what a sickener for any rescue on here to view as Im sure they would agree that they are laying a path to those ads because of their silly standards!

IMHO each cat is different and each home is different so it seems a bit red-tapey to have such strict rules.

One rescue I know has the most adorable little deaf white cat in their care. She's very playful and friendly, the kind of cat you'd love to see playing with responsible kids. However this cat won't be allowed to go where there are any kids under any circumstances because "you can guarantee the kids will let her out and she'll get run over because she's deaf".

I know rescues have the cats' interests at heart but seeing this bouncy little thing in a pen does upset me a bit.

Whereabouts are you Debbie? If you're in Derbyshire, come and see the cats at Ashfield ;-) , subject to usual homechecks I'm sure we could match you up!

Have a look at http://www.catchat.org/topcats too

This has really bothered me and it doesn't even affect me! I've been home tonight and my 2 x two year olds (brothers, who do get on/love each other) have spent the last 5 hours curled up in separate spots snoozing the night away, and that's with me being home - I would imagine they have done the same during the 9 hours I was at work!

I think it's really sad that they're denying another cat the same pleasure  :( I do think that in the case of young kittens with full time working owners that it's much better to go in pairs and in an ideal world adult cats would have a cat friend to share the home with (if they were cat friendly) but it's so short sighted to knock back what otherwise sounds like a great, loving home just because you're out at work full time >:(

I think that's so wrong  >:(- I would be really worried about leaving two cats who were strangers to each other in the house while I was out - what if one really bullied the other?

I thought so too Trigger which is why I went back a second time then telephoned the rescue again today (the cats are off site in a cattery).  I did try all my powers of persuasion to get just the male cat but she was adamant she would only re-home me two, no matter if they were close or not which kind of defeats the object really if they are not close with each other IMO.

Gill I spoke with the rescue people first before I went to see the cats and they said they could go separate as they werent close.  It was only after I had been to see the cats that I was asked about my working hours and then the about-turn on only offering me both.

I wont, but it makes me want to be economical with the truth of how much I'm out during the day  :shify:

I can never decide which cat either before we got Pepper there were so many needing homes and if I go to a rescue I always go for oldies but I'm like Teresa was and always say which is overlooked and least likely to get a home, I hate seeing them all because I can't stop thinking about them.  Whilst I was undecided over a few Pepper came up he was to be pts and so I enquired about him and he has been with us 7wks now.
Please consider the harder to home cats in rescue.

this is so shortsighted of those rescues and i also wonder if they are seriosuly trying to rehome. do not give up but do make sure you know all conditionsa before looking at cats, so you dont lose heart

I wonder if the rescue you went to first was trying it on a bit with you, Debbie, as they sensed an opportunity to rehome two cats

I would be inclined to go back and say you definitely want the male cat and only the male cat, like it or lump it - I think it might well work :sneaky:
