I think it is a shame they don't go a little further or use home checkers from other rescues, they seem to get a few of these high profile big rescues (remember the yorkshire terriers a year or two ago) and I do think rehoming 52 persians in a 20 miles radius of hastings sounds like a tall order?? they do want help with grooming and socialising as well but you are a bit far for that as well lol

I did think of you straight away of course, pity they aren't closer I'm sure you could have saved some of fur

Maybe, who knows - I guess Flower's coat was beyond normal grooming though.

Oh no, i shouldnt have looked at the website! I love the lilac bi colours, very pretty - and poor little Flower, 16 yrs old and all her coat shaved off, what a shame. They don't rehome out of the area though, saved me from myself LOL!

I've just had a look at the website, it looks like an nightmare, this is from the site

Sadly for the cats, most have quite heavily matted coats, so the long process of de-matting is now under way. We of course have to neuter, microchip, vaccinate, health check, flea and worm all 52 cats.

On a happy note, we have managed to re-home all 4 dogs, and the koi carp have found various new ponds to live in.

We are stretched to the limit at Greenacres Sanctuary at the moment, can you spare any blankets, feed bowls, beds, toys, scratch posts, food, litter and litter trays? Perhaps you have some free time and could help socialize or groom the cats?

Any help would gratefully received, please Tel our Sanctuary near Hastings: 01424 882198

I have just had a friend on the line thanking me for some help and she reports that Cecila Hammond Charity have just taken in over 50 persians as part of a major rescue operation. Some are very unwell reported to be only weighing around 3kg in weight and lots of health problems related to a multi cat household. Anyone looking to adopt a persian in the next few weeks or months maybe it would be worth giving this charity a call as thats a terrible toll on their resources esp if they are dealing with endless kittens as well.

Poor puss cats
Cannot save the world, but if everyone does something we can have a jolly good job trying too....
