I tried Promeris after the vet pushed it as a cheaper alternative to Frontline. I found it a lot of liquid per dose - it went all over the place. I thought it smelled vile

I threw a couple of out-of-date ones away the other day.

brw - the vet has stopped selling it - they also thought it was messy  :evillaugh:

Annoyingly, they charged me a lot more for Promeris than I would have paid online for Frontline.

Promeris seems to be a good flea treatment. Its a spot on like Frontline It did the job - nice smell too - of coconut  :) not sure about the comparative cost. Not heard of Effipro.

I have no choice but to use Frontline on Clapton as he is allergic to Stronghold and Advocate  - not sure if they are the same make up. Also Stronghold isn't recommend for cats with CRF but Frontline is.

About two years ago the fleas around here got resistant to Frontline. I now use Stronghold, it does earmites as well which my Vet says Frontline doesn't. Trouble doesn't seem to get ticks anymore either. More expensive, but worth it. I hate ticks! Yeuch!

But surely if the chemistry is the same, it should be fine?

I suppose rescues could keep a supply of both. Personally I have no intentions of having pregnant or lactating queens in the house  :evillaugh:

This hasnt been tested for safety in pregnant or lactating queens unlike frontline, so something to keep in mind.

Their site made me laugh "kills upto 100% of fleas!"  :evillaugh:

Posted here as well as bargains section as this is probably good for rescues/multicat people.
They also do large packs which work out even cheaper.

Effipro (Virbac) contains Fipronil, the same active ingredient as Frontline

£10.40 for 4 pipettes from www.petdrugsonline.co.uk (about the same price as 3 frontline from other online places)

A good deal when you have a few cats to treat.
