We don't have shelves per se but the pelmets on the curtains are great fun and they go up on to the units then along the pelemts and down on to the other un it and if they are good they don't land on the dogs!

Some of mine are about as elegant as cart horses - currently Blue our latest feral - been here nearly 2 months now gets the light put on in the bedroom as he tried climbing down the shelves from the top of the wardrobe and kept missing the last shelf and hitting the floor like a brick - he now comes down as long as we don't watch!

Brill pics. I soooo want to do something here but have a small house so it would be very noticable and Hubby would hate it

boo hoo. I love the idea that it gives the lads double the space cause it lets you use the height esp in a small house.

Wow that link JS posted is fantastic! Makes me wish I owned a house so I could start doing things like that. I would have to learn how to DIY though

I could just imagine trying to run after the cats to put them in their carrier for the V-E-T with all those nooks and crannies!I would be alot slimmer for it

With those over head planks are cats actually that happy up there not being able to pass each other etc behaviorally i mean.

If your hubby is doing the work himself, you can get it to look exactly how you want it to look. My shelves are walnut and came from a company on the internet. But I got them to match my walnut shelves on the other side of the room (normal bookshelves). I wanted them to go with the rest of the room and not stick out too much as cat shelves. I have used velcro to attach non-slip pads to the shelves, so if I ever sell or rent the place out, I can take off the non-slip pads, take off the velcro and the shelves will just be regular shelves.

However you do it, I'm sure your kitties will love them!

I love these ideas. Not so sure my Mum would ever come into my house again mine you. She is pretty weary of the cats and paranoid about one jumping down on her from above. This would scare the life out of here.

I love the pink and blue one and the yellow one with all the walkways as well.

I plan to put some shelves up at somepoint in the future in the cats room but I'd go potty if I came home to find shelves and stairs all over the walls downstairs like in some of those pics (not that there would be even the slightest chance my OH would do that lol)

Actually it is quite amusing, particularly when his little bum goes up in the air as he stops JUST before the edge of the table! So far he hasn't skidded off, but my sunglasses, clean washing and various other things have gone flying.

I'll put pics on tonight of my new cat wall - although it isn't finished yet as there was some issue with the wall, blah, blah, need some different bolts, blah blah. Now my dad has gone on holiday for 3 weeks and hasn't finished the job!! What a cheek!

There are three shelves up so far and the boys are totally into them. I have put non-slip mats on with velcro but I think I need to get a giant non slip tablecloth as Digby thinks its a great game to jump from the shelves and slide across the dining room table.

A while ago whlst searching the net for ideas for home entertainment for the cats I came across a photo of mini steps built onto a wall in someones house for their cats to use and for the life of me I cannot remember or find where I saw it and dying to show hubby as have told hm about the idea and he is quite interested and agreeable. Anyone know wht sitethee photos are on etc?
