Yes, I used to have Guinea Pigs! I actually was referred by some friends on a Guinea Pig forum that I moderate. I used to have a 5 year old piggie left from my original herd, but I gave him to my Dad to look after as he has other boys to keep him company. So currently I have no Guinea Pigs.
I have never owned cats before Dexter, and currently he's my only cat. My boyfriend (that I live with) has a 2 year old Husky/Collie Mix dog who is just lovely. My boyfriend actually got me a pure Husky pup about 6 months ago, but 3 months ago she had to be pts due to congenital problems we hadn't known of before we got her.
What drew me to the Rex? When I was about 13 or 14 I was watching a Vet show in Australia called "Harry's Practice" which did a special on Devon Rex cats. When I was 18 I boarded for two years with a family that had four cats and I fell in love! Before this I had never really been a cat person. And to put that in perspective, I'm now 3 weeks shy of turning 21.
I had wanted a cat before Pepper passed away, but was holding off because I felt we had enough with two dogs. When she passed away I researched about the Rex cats and came across Dexter, and felt he was perfect. I can't deal with the hair from most animals indoors, and the fact that Dexter sheds next to nothing is perfect. He's also got a vibrant, outgoing personality - he wags his tail like a dog and loves to be around you. He is a happy indoors only cat, and Sooty (our dog) is a happy outdoors dog.
