Great news - I hope Sundae is grounded now  :Luv2:

Sorry, was really tired last night after jaunting up and down the motorway so I didn't write what happened. I aquired a trap and went back to show the lady how to set it up. Having just eaten my tea at 10 I received a phone call to say that a lovely couple two doors down had found Sundae slumped in their garden. They kept him warm and comfy in the garage until they found out who's cat it was and then promptly returned him.

Sundae's mum was crying with relief when I spoke to her. Little monster's really getting the most out of those nine lives!

Thanks everyone for the advice!

Oh what wonderful new .. I'm so pleased I bet his mummy is over the moon.

Don't thank me ... St Francis was obviously looking out for this very special  boy.

(I've updated the CatChat post).

That sounds positive ... with any luck he won't have gone too far and his mummy will be able to get him back tonight.

My offer still stands if you need me tomorrow ... just drop me a PM anytime and I'll be able to pick it up at work  ;)

Come on St Francis ... take care of Sundae and direct him back to his mummy.

Oh bless you Sam, that's really kind.

I managed to aquire a trap and have packed Sundae's mum off with it and instructions on how to use it.

There was some positive news. A man we saw on our travels who lives right behind said he'd heard a really unusual cat cry in the night. He said he hears cat fights all the time but this was different. That completely adds up as Sundae has a blood-curdling miow and sounds like he's in great pain when all he wants is a snuggle. I did an impression and he said "yes, that's exactlly it" so it seems that Sundae has found his way to directly benind his house but can't get back in the garden.

I feel really positive that he'll be found but I'm so sad for his mum who totally blames herself.

All your positive vibes please!

Hi Smokey,

If you are stuck tomorrow I can drive to Melbourne with you after work and continue the search .... I've only got a two seater car but I am happy to help to get this special boy back home.

I only work 2 mins from you (Castle Blvd).

It doesn't look like it. They're keeping their hopes up by thinking he's happily snoozing under a bush somewhere, oblivious to the panic. That does sound like the sort of thing he'd do  . I'm setting off in ten mins to go and find him.

Just spoke to his mum and she's well and truly in the 'helpless' stage so I think if nothing else I can go and keep the momentum up.

They've tried their vets but they havn't got a trap. I'm car-less after this evening so I'm going to have to do what I can without.

Wish me luck!

Has he responded to the smell incentives at all?

Do any of your local vets have a trap? I know that one in our area does (really good with ferals) ,but it might be worth asking

Sorry I can't be more help  >:(

Sorry to start another Sundae thread but I'm so worried about him. Does anyone have any trapping tips?

Does anyone in the South Derbyshire/Nottingham area have a trap I could borrow for a day? I can't go up to near Chesterfield to our branch as I'm in Nottingham till 5.30 and only have tonight to look for him. I also have to get a car to a garage this evening.

Is there a way of improvising? He's not a strong cat. He has a good sense of smell and I've passed on all the smell-related advice I can think of (hoover dust and tempting chicken for example). He is deaf so won't respond to being shouted.

They don't live on a main road but any road is a threat to a deaf, blind cat. I'm not sure he can go another 24 hours alone, he's been gone since yesterday morning.
